Ericeira is the best place to spent some days surfing on the World Surfing Reserve or just hanging out with friends or family.

We really enjoyed our trip to Ericeira. The coast reminds you of Cornwall and there is a safe beach to swim just of the town centre. We parked at San Sebastián beach, loads of parking and walked in along the coastal path. A walk into town and you will find whitewashed cobbled streets a nice thoroughfare and square wit a... More

Must be the only holiday we have had and their not being an Irish pub or anywhere with a tv with English on it, good thing with our Football let down, old world streets, small cafe taverna's, inexpensive food and drink, good place to unwind and relax away from the madden crowds. Don't do surfing but was informed one of... More

As I was not going to surf while staying in Ericeira, I had to find something else to do and brought my running shoes. I don't regret it! Running along the shore on cliffs, down to beautiful beaches, watching the sunset... Ah! And the best thing is that you can choose how long you want to go. And the silence,... More

Myself and my wife live in the Algarve and came up for a week in May. The weather didn´t help but its very small, nothing to do if the surf is blown out cold and rainy (which it was for 4 out of the 6 days) nowhere to surf if it´s blowing a northerly. The Algarve at least has some... More

Ericeira is a small fishermen's village up north of Lisbon and not in Algarve. It Became very popular during the late 80's because of it great swells and uncrowded beaches good for surf. If you're planing a surf trip to portugal definitely you must mark Ericeira on your map. There are all kind of beaches and waves. From rocky bottom... More

Ericeira has an amazing coastline, with tons of great surfing spots. Fish is also a specialty of the region, especially cod fish dishes. In the summer the place is packed with Austrian and German tourists learning to surf. In some cases they can be dangerous, so watch out when paddling out.

I have just returned from a week in Ribamar/Ericeira with my wife, 9 month old baby and 5 friends. This area is fantastic if you want to avoid the tourist trap areas and experience a piece of real Portugal. There are superb beaches all the way along this coastline and, even though we went late in the season, I imagine... More

This is our second time to Ericeira. It is very portugese, with very few english there. Less than an hour from Lisbon. We stayed in Karolina apatments which were very nice. The weather there even in high season is comfortable, never going above 30c with brisk winds. The beaches are fantastic and uncrowded. A visit to Sintra and Obidos are... More
