The drive through a forest, step dirt roads (you can avoid them) and the eerie feel the low hanging clouds gave made it a cool adventure. We have no clue though how the view is as we were only able to see about 10 meters ahead. So on a bad day, for those looking for a special experience when planning... More

The views from Mount Foia are absolutely stunning, we just sat and took in the views of countryside out in front of us. There is also a lovely gift shop in the car park area which also thankfully sold refreshments. The stones which were piled up everywhere were interesting and made for a good photo too. I've read on here... More

Foia is the name of the highest point of the Algarve, in the Serra de Monchique. It is accessible by road from Monchique. It has 902 m of elevation. On clear days you can see the Atlantic Ocean.

We stayed in Monchique for 2 weeks and visited mount Foia on several occasions, the view on the way up is superb and at the top they are just amazing. You can literally see almost the whole Algarve, from West coast all the way along the south coast. There is a restaurant, gift shop and there was a local craft... More

I wouldn't bother. we travelled an hour. the guide book said "stunning views". they weren't. they were big views, could see for miles and miles and miles but they were uninteresting. on the way up you can see some excellent terracing but we didn't find a viewpoint where you got a good view of these so as the driver I... Once the coach has reached the top of the mountain and you get out you realise how high you are by the cold, this is the highest point of the Algarve. the views are stunning but you have to be a bit lucky as the clouds are moving across all the time. There is the usual tourist shop and wine... More

Its a place I have always wanted to go and it didn't disappoint...Not only were the views on the journey up and down breathtaking, the overall view at the top of the summit was spectacular. Slightly hazy due to the heat but still an excellent view. Well worth the journey. Not much at the summit in terms of visitor attractions... More

Stunning view, a bit difficult to get up to the top unless you are very fit. Driving up to the peak is recommended.

The view was very misty hence the 3 stars otherwise I am sure it would have been 5. Plenty of places to take in the vast view of the valleys, plains and coastline below. There is a restaurant and lots of communication satellites around.

Unfortunately it was too hazy so no clear view. The woods and landscapes are fantastic where you can make great walks.
