This place was , likely, a temple where the nuragic tribes gathered together during equinox and solstices to celebrate the sun and, believe it or not, a kind of mystical experience can still be felt nowadays. While visiting the holy well of Santa Cristina and its nuragic village I thought that a lot of evidences of the nuragic culture are... More

What a perfect place this was to learn about the fascinating nuraghic history of Sardegna. A few steps off the autostrada and it feels like you have moved through a time tunnel to the past. This lovely pastoral setting takes you to the sacred well that is truly a mystical experience. The eliptical stairway down to the well is so... More

The trip to the "sacred well" was so very disappointing. All we saw was a hole in the ground with water!

Get a sense of what it was like to worship water springing from the ground 3000 years ago. Wonder at the precision of the design and the resonances with the feminine principle. Historic, ancient, amazing.

A truely remarkable place with so much to see and wonder at. The ancient well is itself a feat of engineering even by modern standars, but built 3,400 years ago. At the equinox the sun penetrates the well and causes very strange magic. A place of worship of water and female energy. Also a nuraghe, church and little pilgrim houses... More

Italy is not only the country of etrurians, "magna grecia", the romans, the rinascimento, and whatever else comes to your mind. Long before Rome foundation, the Sardinians lived and built in this astonishing cyclopic style which came to be known as the nuragic culture. Surrounded by mystery, Santa Cristina's pit is one of the greatest architectonic expressions of the art... More

This was a fantastic day-trip combined with Tharros. There is a lot of history at Santa Cristina - there is a nuraghic settlement (pretty impressive and you can climb up inside and onto the top - very, very powerful feeling of history surrounding you); a Christian settlement (felt a bit like the Wild West) and most intriguingly of all the...
