Jaques our guide and driver led our group of 8 on the extended afternoon tour last Friday 17th October. Whilst we expected to experience something of what happened here 100 years ago and beyond Jaques clearly intimate knowledge and breadth of contacts brought so much of the afternoon to life. His insights and understanding shared through many stories brought us... More

A thought-provoking, profoundly sad and informative tour delivered by Genevra. She is obviously passionate about the subject and provided a four-hour tour which was inspiring, gut-wrenching and uplifting in equal measure. It was remarkable how she managed to bring the personal aspect out of the devastation that she described so eloquently. I booked a seat by myself but you could... More

Jaques took our small family group for a full day battlefield tour of the Somme area. This was by far the best organised and most informative visit I have made to this area (and I have made many!) Jaques has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the history and geography of the WW1 battlefield sites, combined with a really friendly way of... More

My wife and I and six other family members did a mini bus tour with Jacques from Poperinge to the northern part of the Somme. We wanted to visit Thiepval and Beaumont-Hamel, to find the grave of a Sherwood Forester VC, and to visit the area near Mouvres where our great uncle had fought with distinction. We had a most... Carl is an excellent guide and our 3 days flew past. He is very knowledgeable and really took the effort to put everything into context. Can't thank him enough.

My husband and I visited Ypres in early September and we were lucky enough to have Genevra as our private guide. She is passionate about WW1 and brought the whole experience to life with her detailed knowledge of the period complimented by many interesting nuggets of information. Many other guides greeted her at various sites and it would appear that... More

One of the major reasons for this trip to France was to assist a friend in finding an great uncle killed in WWI; she had done some research herself but felt that Mat and his team would be the best to assist us further and show us the battlefields. Our guide was John Anderson who was tasked to pick us... More

Make no mistake, you do need a guide and if you can afford a private one rather than travel with a coach full of tourists I think you will find it more interesting. Of course it is very sad to see that some of our fallen heroes were so young. Some of 14, 15 and 16 years of age, and... More

I used this company as I had emailed a few (at the last minute) and Genevra at Flanders Battlefields Tours was the quickest to reply. Well, I then booked onto the South Salient Tour with my 17 year old son and I am so glad that I did. Our guide, Andre, had served 37 years in the Belgian Army and... More
