This was a first time trip to see the historic battlefields of the Somme & I must congratulate Genevra on her pre-trip organisation, & Jacques for his patience throughout the day & his knowledge of what it was he was showing us, in particular the wonderful monument dedicated to the South African Soldiers who lost their lives in Deville Wood.... This was our second visit to Ypres but this time we decided to book a private tour for the family, two adults and two children aged 11 & 15. Having done a lot of research into my grandfather, who fought in and around Ypres in 1918 we wanted to follow in his footsteps, around the salient. Jacques was our host/guide... More

First time to Ypres to find family graves and pay our respects to the fallen. We had a tailor made tour because as a party of 4 we wanted to see different places which were not in the scheduled tours that Flanders Battlefield Tours undertake. This was no problem at all for FBT and we had the pleasure to have... More

We took a group of 13 and 14 year old students from NZ to France and Belgium on a History trip in October this year. This was the highlight of our entire 19 stay in Europe. Jacques and Genevra were knowledgeable, personable and welcoming. We felt as if we were old friends almost immediately. Our students were younger than schools... More

Having never visited any of the World War 1 battlefields and with only a limited knowledge of the history we decided to book our own personal guide. Flanders Battlefield tours was one of the organisations found through our internet research. Genevra was quick to reply to our enquiries and was very efficient in organising a day tour to meet our... Jacques treated our family group to an enthralling and fascinating tour of the Ieper salients. His knowledge, enthusiasm and anecdotes made a great trip incredible and all in our party, without exception, left Ieper in the knowledge that we had had access to a genuine master of his trade and a guide who had unselfishly shared his love for his... Part of our recent OE (in July) was to travel to the Somme to see where my grandfather was wounded in WW1 and where he then went before being evacuated back to England. We only had one day and had specific places to go - Albert and Etaples. I wasn't sure about a guide - mainly due to the cost... More

Jaques our guide and driver led our group of 8 on the extended afternoon tour last Friday 17th October. Whilst we expected to experience something of what happened here 100 years ago and beyond Jaques clearly intimate knowledge and breadth of contacts brought so much of the afternoon to life. His insights and understanding shared through many stories brought us... More

A thought-provoking, profoundly sad and informative tour delivered by Genevra. She is obviously passionate about the subject and provided a four-hour tour which was inspiring, gut-wrenching and uplifting in equal measure. It was remarkable how she managed to bring the personal aspect out of the devastation that she described so eloquently. I booked a seat by myself but you could... More
