I had a fascinating and very thought-provoking full day with Sabine of Great War Pilgrimage Tours and cannot recommend her highly enough. She met me at the Ieper train station and we visited all the main sights of the Salient: Essex Farm (where John McCrae wrote "In Flanders Fields"), Yorkshire Trench, Tyne Cot Cemetery, the Hooge Crater Museum, Polygon Wood... went out there on a moterbike well worth the journey from wales u.k seeing the war graves at flanders and surrounding areas would fetch a tear to your eyes seeing all the graves also watching the bugler do the last post the town of ypres was very nice and very scenic the church there was big a lot of history... We spent a wonderful day as pilgrims in Flanders touring important WWI sites for us as New Zealanders. We were expertly guided and informed by Sabine during a very interesting, stimulating and, indeed, moving tour. 2014 marks the beginning of an intresting period in "de westhoek", the western part of Flanders, an area which suffered heavily in the "great war".
