This museum's name derives from the date of the battle of the Golden Spurs. It is very famous in Belgium and took place between Flemish farmers and French knights. We found the museum to be much more interesting and enjoyable than we were anticipating. The museum not only explains the battle but explores how this event has been politicised in... More

Staff were very helpful. We particularly enjoyed the first world war exhibit which centred on the espionage in the town which helped the allies. also it was interesting to see film of the Red Baron who was based near the town

This museum is very well arranged and extremely organized. My visit was for an event presentation, thus there wasn't time to better explore all museum offers. Nevertheless as much as that was possible to look around, that seems to be a good proposal for a visit.

We came here not knowing what it was about but saw plenty of signs in the city so had to visit. Cost 6 Euros and you get an audio guide which is necessary as there are no English/French/German written translations. The person at the desk said that the museum covers the history of Kortrijk but in reality it focussed on... More

We go to Belgium every year as a group of 20 friends + This was the first time that we had been to Kortrijk and we contacted the museum in advance and they offered to put on a special show for us which was very good. They put on a slide show for us showing the history of the town... More

Its a very well laid out and modern museum. It explains a lot about this pivotal moment in Flemish history, and how it has been misrepresented over the years. My only slight niggle is that although the audio guide is pretty good, its does not explain some of the individual items, coins etc. In other museums there are plasticised cards... More

There are two main aspects to this museum: the military side, including the armour used, the weapons, tactics and so on, and the historical aspect, meaning who was involved, what was at stake, etc. I was really only interested in the first, so the other side left me a bit cold. Obviously it would be very different for a Belgian,... More

This museum is dedicated to the famous Battle of Courtrai (Guldensporenslag) in 1302. An audioguide is included in the entrance price. Please mention if you came by train, then you pay €1 less. The audioguide is really good and explains well the motives and moves of the different parties involved in the battle. On the ground floor, everything about the... More

if you want to learn about the history of Flanders AND if you want to get an insight into the mechanics behind forming a cultural identity, then you should visit the place. The identity part is very instructive for allcultures, I must say. Makes you think.

Very interesting modern museum that gives a lot of information about the famous battle and also place it in perspective. Good audio gide. Take 1 to 2 hours to see it, depending how much of the film you watch
