Just had a weekend experience of Bruges and visited the Minnewater lake/park as it was an area recommended by other TA's. The area is well kept and is set to the south of the main hustle and bustle. However if you are wanting to get away from the crowds and the 'dreaded' tourist, then don't go to Bruges. The place... More

Beautiful lake come rain or shine. Great for a stroll or just sit and watch the ducks and swans to give your feet a rest.

A very picturesque lake between the centre of town and the train station. Great to walk beside, or take in the surrounding parkland, but it's no romantic picnic spot - coachloads of tourists, following and their tour leaders holding umbrellas aloft, will be marching back and forth. Perhaps you'll be one of them.

My husband and I visited Bruges last year during spring time. Minnewater Lake is definitely one of our favourite places there. Very romantic and peaceful place to be. Make sure you visit it when you are in Bruges.

By far this is the most beautiful place in Brugge with swans, ducks, wonderful trees, restaurants-tea rooms and small shops. You can spend hours by walking around the lake, resting in a tea-room, having lunch or dinner in a restaurant and visiting the shops. Definitely worths every minute you spent.

As you walk past St. John's Hospital and Church of Our Lady, going south on Mariastraat, take a right on Wijngaardstraat, past the Begijnhof and you find yourself at the prettiest lake and park. The swans and ducks are fun to watch. The tourist boats come down to the lake. Absolutely beautiful scenery. There is Gunpowder tower at one of... More

Well in the sunshine it can be just that. You can walk round it in 10 minutes, so use it as one of the walking tours.
