We only went here because it was included in the price of the ticket to see Town Hall, but I'm glad we went. We didn't stay long at all, but were able to see a beautiful wood fireplace inside. Since its right in Burg Square and near everything else, its worth a visit.

The previous reviewer Voyager101Canada and others have described this astonishing Renaissancezaal Brugse Vrije (Renaissance Hall of the Liberty of Bruges) as well as I could and all I can add is that I was almost mesmerised by the beauty of the fireplace with its frieze and oak chimneypiece. There are informative sheets in various languages. The paintings on the walls... More

As part of our ticket to the Bruges' City Hall, we were offered free entrance to the Palace of the Liberty of Bruges. I always wanted to go in that establishment, as the outside of this building is so beautiful! So much gold! I was astonished by the beauty of its fireplace, built out of superb black marble. Naturally it... More

Vrije was the earlier courtroom that has been converted into a museum now but has just 1 small room with art wirjs and a fireplace with intricate carvings all around. I guess no one would visit the museum by itself so good that the ticket is included in tge ticket of tge city hall next door.

When you buy your ticket for the Stadhuis you also get entry to visit the room here at Brugse Vrije. You'll probably spend no more than five minutes here and it's nowhere near as impressive as Stadhuis' Gothic Hall, but as it's included in your ticket price it's worth seeing.

This fireplace in the old courtroom features some remarkable 16th century wood carving. An interesting painting shows the room in use for a trial long ago. The cost of entry is included in a visit to the Stadhuis next door (which is worth seeing) so it's worth a quick look here as you are passing.

This is included in the ticket from town hall. The receptionist was a bit grumpy but don't let here deter you. Once into the Renaissance Chamber you'll see a monumental fireplace and some gents with codpieces. Worth a brief visit.

Lovely old building with beautiful fireplace and artwork, with guide in several languages, but it is quite small so is only a quick stop, worth it for 10 minutes out of the rain looking at such a pretty room

The ticket was included with the ticket to the city hall museum. Both were quite beautiful and worth a quick stop. The carving was amazing.

This site was included in our Brugge Museum Card. It once housed the city's courts. The room is beautiful and the fireplace with its intricately carved wood mantel is worth seeing.
