Beautiful building and moving art displays. The standout surprise for me was the range of Flemish primitives art: Jan van Eyck 15 century, in particular. So real the art pops off the canvas. The most famous piece is the one of the soldier, the priest and virgin Mary and babe. I had to revisit the museum a second time. Just... More

We had wanted to come here to see the Hieronymus Bosch painting and to while away a few hours with some culture! The museum was fairly quiet. You have to check in your bags and coats into lockers with a returnable €1. The museum was interesting, with lots of gruesome images of judgement day designed to cause fear in the... More

I enjoy art but am not always so keen on huge galleries that take hours to visit. So if you can only handle so much art at once, I'd recommend here. It took me around an hour to complete and most of the well known pieces are right at the start of the gallery. My only complaint is about the... More

The Groeninge Museum is not huge, but has a decent amount of work from Flemish and Belgian artists, including Jan van Eyck and a lot of religious stuff! There is also an interesting Ellen Harvey exhibition currently at the Museum.

Title says it all really. A pleasant spot to escape the uber-tourism that is Bruges. Friendly staff and great exhibits.

Was told this was a good place to visit, if you like paintings (and religious ones at that) then this is place for you. It was ok to while away and half an hour or so, but slightly overpriced.

Some of Van Eyck's best work is here. Well worth a visit even if you are not an art lover, very well displayed.

Included in the €20 museum pass - went back twice just to look at the Van Eyck... just breathtaking. Visited just as it opened in the morning on the second time so had the place almost to ourselves. An absolute must for a visit to Bruges.

Great little art gallery with a range of paintings from early modern to impressionist. Very interesting to find out about flemish art, as never really come across any before

We thought this was a first rate museum of Belgium art from the Flemish primitives to the 18-19th century neoclassical, expressionists and post modernists. The museum is not huge andis laid out in an organized way, so it is easy to see all the art in one visit. Included is admission to the Arenthuis, another museum with the works of... More
