This is a small art gallery, so don't expect to stay more than around an hour. However, there are a few paintings worth the entry fee alone. In particular, the very famous triptich of the Last Judgment by Hieronymus Bosch, which, although of underwhelming size is so amazingly detailed, and frankly weird, that you can stare at it for ages... Having visited the Picasso work on the previous day, this visit was always going to struggle to match it. However, some of the works were very impressive. It is staggering to think about the art in that some of it is from the early 15th century. There are some beautiful works by several famous, and one or two not so... More

Just a regular person, which enjoys art, but not consider myself a fan. Takes like 20 minutes to see the ones you like, but in my humble opinion, do not worth the price you paid. Next time, will spend the money in buying more chocolates to my friends and family.

Rooms set out in chronological order. Very good paintings in the early (primitive) rooms. Rather more average in the later rooms. Definitely worth a visit.

I am not particularly into looking at old pictures, but some of the paintings here were really interesting, particularly the influence on some modern artists i.e. the Chapman brothers. Nicely designed building, reasonably quiet, good visit.

Absolutely must see if you're fond of Flemish art. Brugge is a small town and the museum is not overcrowded. Don't miss the opportunity to look at Bosch's 'Last judgment' tryptich or Van Eyck's Madonna as much as you want, being the only person in the room. It's a kind of old-fashion museum, for paintings are the only possible entertainment... More

Constant Permeke was a revelation as was Paul Delvaux. a great way to learn about Flemish paintings from the mediaeval to the 20th century

Not too large, worth visiting for the van Eycks and Bosch's Last Judgement alone but the gruesome Judgement of Cambyses is an unforgettable sight too

If you are a fan of old masters - don't miss it. Certainly one of the highlights of Brugge. A good place from which to escape the crowds.
