This relatively small museum, about 10 rooms in all, presents a good overview of Flemish and Belgium paintings. It was great to see the intriguing Bosch masterpiece Last Judgement with its multitude of powerful images and themes. Van Eyck’s works include his lovely Madonna with Canon van der Paele. We very much enjoy Magritte’s works and a fine work of... More

For me, their early Flemmish paintings were the best. I discovered a new style of painting that I enjoyed. If you think that you'll stay a while, they offer 'carry your own bench'. I had never seen that before. It's not too expensive, and not too big, and is a nice stop away from the heat.

Bruges had the worlds best artists in 1450 and the museum shows how significant their contribution was - almost photo-realistic painting was possible for the first time. The paintings from Jan van Eyck and his contemporaries stand out here.

As others have said, this is a very small museum and, like most attractions in Bruges, pricey. We bought the Bruges cards, which were a better value than buying individual admissions and made it easier to duck in and out of attractions we enjoyed more or less. There are some great paintings here, and the rooms are well laid out... More

nice, but don't plan a whole lot of time here. I think there were only 9 or 10 rooms. They do have a few van Eycks on display, so that alone is nice to see.

Some amazing pieces in the place, think I annoyed a few people with my noisy shoes though - trainers are a better option than Chelsea boots.

The early rooms especially are full of wonderful Flemish Primitive paintings, including works by Rogier van der Weyden, Jan van Eyck and Hans Memling. A must for any art enthusiast.

An interesting gallery with works from the 14th to the 20th century. You will have to stow any bags in rental lockers. Definitely worth 1-2 hours, a real range of styles.

Dont be fooled into thinking this is a museum just because its called the groeninge museum it is in fact a gallery and quite a good one at that. It displays flemish masterpieces from the 14th century to the present day, I normally get a bit bored in galleries after about an hour but this held my attention for the... More

What a wonderful museum. A display of six ages of Flemish and Belgian art, with as highlight for me the Flemish Primitives. I've been there several times now, but keep discovering new things in each work of art. The museum is not too big which I thought was very nice, as it kept my attention throughout the visit.
