A lovely view of Flemish art covering everything from the 1400s to the modern era. I am always amazed that the early masterpieces look so vivid even today.

This museum contains works of art - focusing mostly on Belgian art. Plenty to see, well worth the money.

This small museum contains a stunning collection of Flemish Primitive paintings, along with artwork from more recent time periods up until the 20th century. Seeing Jan van Eyck's "The Madonna with Canon van der Paele" up close made the visit worth it to me, but that is only one piece of many wonderful works of art there.

Plenty of great art to soak in....BUT....the major new exhibit, which was impressive, had a handbook to accompany. The handbook was A3 size, hard to handle and the paintings were numbered across the page, but the corresponding info was presented down the page...made it harder to follow the display. And be prepared to part with lots of $$$ if you... More

I thought that I would enjoy this museum a bit more, but it was a fine introduction to Flemish art and also a good pitstop from strolling the charming streets of Bruges particularly during inclimate weather. Lockers available at no charge.

The walk through the courtyard garden is a beautiful introduction to the museum. All attractions in Bruges seem to cost 8 euro's and on entering you have to put all large bags in a locker for security reasons and security are constantly monitoring everybody in the museum. There is a well planned sequence of galleries, starting with the oldest paintings... More

We went to this museum especially to see The Last Judgement by Hieronymus Bosch. After going through this small gallery we could not find the painting and so asked. It turns out that the painting has been removed for evaluation and possible restoration. To be fair after leaving the entrance we noticed that this was disclosed one of those advertising... More

We felt that with all the wonderful food, chocolate and beer in Bruges that we ought to do something cultural and we were so glad that we came here! Some superb art from the "Flemish Primitives' that you could really get close to and admire the talent and skills that they had.

Some very exciting art. A well laid out display of paintings that flows nicely from medieval to modern. Also in a seperate building a Frank Brangwyn exhib that shouldn't be missed. Charming grounds. Suprisingly excellent museum for a small town the curator and staff deserve a big thumbs up.
