We went here to see the Michelangelo and was not disappointed. It was at this point I remembered the scenes in 'The Monuments Men' which I had forgotten about. You pay 2 euros which is fair enough as the renovations must be financed somehow. There was also an amazing pulpit and interesting crib sculpture out of a tree - tip get... More

This is an amazing building and although it is still undergoing renovation, you still get a feeling for the beauty of the artwork and decorations in the church. The church is 'free' and a 2 euro fee to see the Michelangelo 'Madonna and child', but well worth seeing. Having seen the sculpture in the film 'The Monuments Men' it was... More

Entrance fee is low at the moment to the 'art gallery' section because of all the hammering and whizzing in the main church: some major repairs being done. But we could see the main attraction, a lovely piece by Michelangelo, and there were one or two other paintings with as much meaning and depth as anything in the Groeninge Museum.... More

Saw Madonna and child but found it difficult to say what anything else was. Full renovations going on.

This magnificent structure towers over Bruges. There are beautiful views of the church throughout the city. It is entered from the south side. The interior houses the 'Bruges Madonna' by Michelangelo. The church is currently undergoing large scale renovation, but it is open, and the Michelangelo sculpture is accessible. You must buy a ticket to see the Michelangelo statue. It is... More

We visited this purely and simply based on the movie "The Monuments Men" and the story behind it. It was interesting, as are most of the churches throughout Europe. However anything connected with Michaelangelo and my ears and eyes are wide with awe. A "must see" like most of the attractions of Brugge.

The church is undergoing extensive renovations, and large sections of it are inaccessible. Michelangelo's Madonna and Child sculpture, however, is accessible and is arguably the highlight of the visit. There's a fee for the Madonna and Child, but the other sections of the church that are open are fee-free.

Fuelled by watching the movie the monument men we had to see the Madonna and baby. Would have been good to have had reference to this theft in the church. Mass refurbishment is going on. It is what it is....

Of all of the highlights in Brugge, the Madonna with Child is argueably the most famous icon located in the city. The recent movie "The Monuments Men" centers on the search and recovery of several iconic art pieces including the "Brugge Madonna". The Church is undergoing massive restoration efforts and most of the interior is covered in tarps and scaffolding.... More
