We hadn't really planned to visit this church but it was en route to somewhere else we were going so we went in to see the Michelangelo. There was only a short queue so we paid our 2€ and made our way to see the Madonna and Child. It is beautiful and I appreciated the fact that there were very... More

This church offers visitors lovely surroundings from which to view the only Michelangelo sculpture to leave Italy during his lifetime. At the moment, because of renovations, it is less the half price (2 euro) to visit the part of the church where the statue is, and it is free to visit the other part all year. The Madonna is behind... More

Half of the church was closed off for renovations, but the Madonna was there in full view behind her bullet-proof glass. The wooden pulpit on display is simply magnificent with its carved walnut angels and filigree.

Not one of the more memorable cathedrals or churches. However you need to see Michaelangelo's Pieta. The church is under renovation. The people were friendly and there were some other interesting works of art to see.

The interior was marred by scaffolding, etc. but Michelangelo's Madonna & Child was worth a visit. The church was a pleasant walk from Markt & Burg Squares.

So that's the reason for 4 stars, but it's worth going in there and taking a look at Madonna and Child created by Michelangelo.

Very impressive building ! Michelangelo's sculpture "Madonna and the child", which can be seen inside, is the only master piece of Michelangelo which is outside Italy... Even the whole church is in a big renovation, still worth a visit for the building itself and for the sculpture inside ! And also, treasury can be visited, so is not a waste... More

See my review about S. Saviour's Church. Such a great shame that BOTH major churches have a vast amount of work going on at the same time which restricts what you can see of the whole building. Huge white walls of wooden hoarding. But at least it provides a cheaper entrance fee to see the Michelangelo statue of Our Lady.....but... More

I was very disappointed with this church - it looks very impressive from the outside but it is completely being renovated inside so with the exception of one fancy pulpit it was rather drab and lifeless.

thThe altarpiece of the large chapel in the southern aisle enshrines the most celebrated art treasure of the church—a white marble sculpture of the Madonna and Child created by Michelangelo. This plus the other art pieces kept in the church are well worth the visit.
