The best part of this church is the Michelangelo statue. It is breathtaking! Unfortunately the opening hours are not very convenient so check them before you go. The entrance fee was not too bad but it is weird to pay in a church...

This church, like so many others in Europe helps you understand the power of the church in Medieval times. You get drawn into the artifacts and especially the architecture, created at such expense and with such a high degree of organization. It is tempered here with merchantlism and reformation. Sections are being restored but an effort was made to allow... More

So much hoopla about a statue you say? My husband and I went into the church which was just down the street from our hotel soon after we arrived in Bruges. It was rather disappointing...so much reconstruction and renovation. The next day we went back and paid the extra fee to see the Madonna and Child. It was absolutely breathtaking... More

i've been here in 2013 and 2014, the place can't be visited properly because it's under renovation. you can enter without paying a ticket and see only a small part, or pay the ticket and make a small tour. if you think you will not be in bruges again you should go in but i think you will not make... The church is half boarded up for renovation (as is St Salvator) but the entrance fee is worth paying for the chance to see one of the few statues by the master north of the alps. It is so beautiful.

This is a very beautiful church with a stunning interior, which I really liked. Strolling around the church, looking at the various vistas, was quite breathtaking. Really worth the short time needed to view the whole church.

I loved this church. It is undergoing some restoration, but the atmosphere was calm and the Michelangelo statue of the Madonna and Child was mind-blowing. I remember coming here as a teenager and was enchanted by this statue back in the 60's. It's even better now.

The church is still being restored, as it was in February. Obviously a huge task, but seems rather mean to charge 2 euros for the part of the church containing the Madonna. At present cannot get the sense of the church as it used to be.

Move along, please, nothing to see here...No point in going until the restoration is done. Considering Barcelona are building an entire cathedral but still make it visible to visitors, the swathed layers of scaffolding and opaque plastic entirely filling this church are not acceptable. I really wanted to see the Michelangelo but decided to make a stand and not contribute... More

Like most of the churches in Bruges we took in all the art and woodworking. After enjoying the church we then went to the paid section and made our way to see the Madonna and Chile. There were a few others around, not a large crowd. We were able to just stand there and take in the sight of this... More
