We were disappointed in this church as there is a lot of work being done, so is not very visitor friendly, we did see Michelangelo's Madonna and Child though. Our advice would be to wait until the upgrade is finished.

I never knew the importance of this church having been to Bruges before. We found that out by watching Monuments Men, and learned about the history behind the statue held within the church. Although under renovation, it is still worth the 2 Eur to see the Madonna and Child, considering a can of coke will cost more. And all monies... More

I absolutely love any and all of Michelangelo's sculpting so seeing his only work to be commissioned to leave Italy is pretty neat in and of itself. Couple that with it being a beautiful example of his work and it is a perfect place to visit. The church itself is also quite pretty and I was surprised to find myself... More

There's a sculpture by Michelangelo in this beautiful church. Any opportunity you have to see a sculpture by him- please do so. If you know what you are looking at, it will take your breath away. It's beautiful. Yes the church was under renovations but I still got to see a Michelangelo I had never seen before- for $2 euros.... More

This really is a very nice church. With it's 122m high tower it's one of the talest brick towers in Europe. But, unfortunately there are renovations happening right now (April 2014). So everything is wrapped to protect against dust and/or other harmful things for the artworks. The only thing that is still to see is the "Madonna with child" by... More

We went in here as it was near our hotel. Had a city card so we got as much use out if it as we could. Was free to go in the church part anyway as most of it is covered up due to restoration work. Still an additional fee to see the statue and that is literally all that... More

Rolled up on Friday 28 March 2014 at 4.55 pm exactly (the church was due to close at 5.00 pm. The jerk guarding the entrance and his equally unpleasant and intolerant female colleague adamantly refused myself and my friend permission to step 10 feet inside the front porch in order to get a brief glimpse of the nave through the... Sadly we went when it was being refurbished so many parts of the church and the art within was not on display. Even still though it is a beautiful building and the piece by Michelangelo is in perfect condition and completely breathtaking. This is simply a place you must visit if you are in Brugge

This was a worthwhile sight to see in Bruges. It is a fantastic historical building to see, it has a great feeling inside and beautiful detailing in the structure.

Totally different to the rest of churches in Bruges, Again put this on the list of thing's to do, currently being re-furbished, but still enough to see, beautiful carving's & painting's to see.
