Quite a climb but well worth it for the view. Hilarious when an American tourist was quite put out that there wasn't two sets of steps supplied - one for up and one for down!

Definitely worth the queuing time - obviously a big hike up to the top up a very narrow spiral staircase - a lot narrower than we were expecting! Well worth it. The history and story is relayed to you at information points en route to the top. Views from the top are outstanding. You can also see the mechanics of...

Totally worth the climb of over 300 very narrow stairs! Worse going down than up, but am very glad we did this.

Its a beautiful view from the top. Not a highrise in site. Go early to avoid queues, it is necessary to queue as only a limited number of persons can visit an any one time. Be warned there are LOTS of steep narrow steps its not for the faint hearted.

make sure you see the film 'In Bruges' before you go. The 350+ steps on a spiral staircase are worth it for the view

No queue when we visited so we went straight up to the counter. 8e entrance but it was well worth it.
Avoid bringing too big a bag / back pack as the stairs is narrow! Be prepared to break a sweat!

As of May 2012 it is €4 per person to climb the steps to the top of the Belfry. If it was free then I certainly wouldn't whinge or if there was a lift I would happily pay. But the size of the queue and the lack of access at the top were really disappointing.

it was worth climbing the over 300 steps to get such a wonderful view of brugge - and it was interesting to see the bells and how they work

The belfry is a challenge and great fun. They say 366 steps but I didn't count them! Very narrow towards the top. Stop at the floor before the top to see the amazing mechanism of the clock/bells.
