Bird tree houses

Quiet refuge on a busy day in town. The tree houses were cute and the benches nice to sit and relax. Very charming location in Brugge.

You don't see much in the courtyard of it and there are some tree houses in the trees that are so-called modern art.

Cross the stone bridge in Minneswater, enter the calm and serene world of Begijnhof. You will be intrigued with the sight of rows of houses painted in white against a background of greenery from trees with green foliage and fields of green grasses dotted with flowers. As I sat on one of the benches, I felt a sense of peace... More

We stumbled on this by accident and we all were taken with the peaceful gardens and historic buildings. Worth paying a few euros to step back in time in one of the houses. The lace and some of the carvings were beautiful. Make time to visit as you won't be disappointed.

The Beguinage is still in active use, so we were able to stroll around the central square, see the church (and listen to noon prayers) and visit the gift shop. If you have time in your day, stop by and relax.

Beguinages are communities of women who have chosen to devote their lives to God but not to become Nuns. The one in Bruges, adjacent to the only remaing brewery in the city, is wel worth a visit.

The inner courtyard is very peaceful, with a grove of tall trees gently murmuring in the wind. You can sit on one of the benches and relax, and imagine life as one of the women in what was basically a religious work commune. For a fairly reasonable €4 you can see a selection of rooms (kitchen, living room, bedroom, walled... More

We were staying close by so wandered down to the Begijnhof. This is a very peaceful area where the horse carriages come to feed, water and rest whilst swans and ducks mill around. The Begijnhof itself is quiet and green leading out to a great park should you want to picnic.
