It's a bit of a walk from the Markt and the Burg, but well worth it. You feel transported to a different world. And having peace and quiet is ideal in a city as tourist-heavy as Bruges.

The beguinage is really impressive and a must-visit in Bruges. We went there first with a guide and then on our own to visit the church. It's very very pretty and peaceful.

The Daffodils were in full bloom when we visited. There is a sign requesting quiet as you enter the garden (which not everyone adhered to). An interesting rather than spectacular area, but that's probably how the residents like it and we liked it. Close to Minniwater.
Inspiring, peaceful, quiet retreat from the busy tourist crowds of Bruges. Visitors can tour a typical dwelling of the beguinage religious order with historic furnishings. There is a small entrance fee.
A lovely Spring day and lots of tourists abut, but I'm pleased we took the time to visit this area and the neighbouring Minnewater. The nuns living in the neighbouring cottages cross to the church several times a day. We then saw several drinking beer at the Beer Wall later on in the day!
Beguinage is a must see while in Bruges. It is so tranquil and calming...when there aren't children running about! I have been fortunate on both of my visits to see the daffodils in bloom.
