This weekly market sets up every Wednesday. The stalls fill the market square with everything from flowers and plants to cheeses, breads, meats and pastries. We saw many local people arrive on their bikes to do their shopping. This would be a great spot if you had a self catering place to stay!

On our guided tour in Bruges we came upon the old Farmers Market, inside they have a small seating area for dining so we returned for lunch. We were not disappointed, the menu was not vast, but the food was tasty, well presented by friendly staff, a real delight, somewhere we shall visit again

I went through the farmers market today. It's every Wednesday on the Markt. There was alot more then I expected. The had huge vans that open up into shops with everything! Thousands of different fruit, veg, meats, cheeses, flower's and plants. It seems to be the place that locals stock up. If you are visiting brugge on a Wednesday you... More

Wednesday is market day in Bruges. A very impressive farmer's market sets up in Bruges' biggest square. It is beautiful just to look at. It is also great people watching as locals buy produce for the week. There is plenty of ready-to-eat food, too.

The Wednesday market is a fun exploration of what is available locally. Many merchants are rolling stores. They are mobile and go to different markets each day. You see cheeses, meats, fruits etc, ect. There is no admission and stay as long as you like or they close about 1:30 You can snack or eat a restaurant in the square.... More

While there is the usual fare of snacks and pre-cooked meats for purchase, it's an even more fun experience if you can buy the wonderfully fresh looking fruits and veggies. If your accommadations allow cooking, drop by here to pick up the local produce and enjoy another dimension of Bruges!
