These affordable, 30-minute boat tours follow the same routes and offer commentary in several languages. But because they’re incredibly popular with visitors, don’t be surprised by long waits in line. « less

There's nothing wrong with the trip itself, though it's just half an hour spent chugging along a straight canal with boring views, but the real problem is the destination. Damme is a tiny place with approximately one moderately attractive building. The only things there are a load of restaurants apparently set up to fleece unfortunate tourists who are stuck there... As part of our Baltic trip we experienced the MAGIC of Bruges. It's cobbled stone streets , beautiful old european style buildings & homes look like something out of a movie. Bruges is small & easy to walk around & enjoy. Take a 30 minute canal cruise when you're there, it's worth it. Browse the shops for homemade delights and... More

What a great way to see the Belgium countryside. This paddlewheel boat trip is a wonderful break from a busy day. Especially on a nice sunny day, grab a beer from the snack bar and relax on the top deck. There's not much in Damme but it is a very sweet little town with an interesting, very old church and... Bruges is a beautiful city with wonderful historical buildings and a great deal for the visitor to do. There is a tourist bus where the commentary tells you about the history and basic information about the historic centre. This runs from the Markt Square hourly. There are also horsed drawn carriages which is a romantic and interesting way to see the... More

By all means cycle from Bruges to Damme (about half an hour one way). And when in Damme climb the 200 and so steps but.... this is not for the weak-in-the legs. The steps are short and the wobbly cord and the (sometimes) lack of a railing right to the end of the stairs make the coming down hazardous. The... More

The food in Brugge is mostly overpriced and the menu at every restaurant is the same. On the recommendation of a life long resident of Brugge, since 1930, whom we met in the street while looking for the folk museum, we took the boat from the north of Brugge to Damme. The boat is a charming old paddle wheel that... More

We were served coffee and cakes on our trip up the canal, passing quite a few windmills on the way. A pleasant way to spend 45 minutes.

A very relaxing and peaceful trip up the cannal to Damme. It takes about 30 minutes and is not very expensive. Damme is a very beautiful place to walk around and have some lunch before returning to Bruges. Would recommend as a visit to do.
