In my review of Leuven's Oud Markt, I mentionned that that square is animated and loud. If you wish to find the opposite atmosphere, go to this beguinage. A guided tour would interest those who like history. I believe that staying there an hour or two during spring is ideal to cool down and meditate. More

Leuven is a lovely, lovely place. Much nicer then Brussels - pretty buildings, friendly people and lots of funky shops. More

Interesting historical area, if you like to visit a very quite place. You are reminded of respecting the inhabitants privacy, so you can't visit their living areas or see any example. That can be done in other cities in Belgium. We missed going inside the church, not sure if it was open anyway. More
