it was planned to do this city trip together with my sister, so early morning she called in with her husband. It was actually a short drive to Ghent. We putted the car under the Vrijdagmarkt and we started our walk from there. Ghent has a big history and the first statue we saw was "Jacob van Artevelde" in the... More

I would like to visit this city again n again.. it was just amazing and I felt so welcoming as soon I reached the station and went to info counter for the first time.. Everyone speaks English so well, which is really rare thing one can expect in different European cities specially a small city like Ghent... I never expected... More

The tour is very professionally giuded, the Flemish speaking girl was amazingly informed on all the historical facts and even advised us on the best places to eat while the tour was progressing. Very nice experience. Thanks a lot.

East Flanders- population of 250,000, has for centuries been the focal point of the Flemish nationality. Ghent owes its historical importance to the cloth - The city flourished long time ago during the Middle Ages, and there was even a period, around the turn of the 14th century, when it was the second-largest city north of the Alps; only Paris... We like boat tours, but this one is not worth while takng. A slow boat that stays on the main canal, nthing you cannot see walking. The tour guide was terrible, telling a bit about buildings, but no context, nothing about the city and history. As we didn't have much time, we regretted the tour, with limited time there're better... More

Gent is a place where the old is preserved so that people of our time could truly enjoy its beauty within. A place where I would definitely come to see again and again if I could! It's a magical town where peace and tranquility exist within its people and surrounding.

Ghent has managed to retain it's medieval history through architectural guidelines. New businesses can change the inside but the facade must remain intact. Ghent has a variety of museums to visit from the Industrial Museum to the new Aljin Museum. This historic city provides travellers with a variety of restaurants. If you are in Ghent on a Friday don't miss... More

Beautiful! We walked around for hours and went on a canal tour also. Both were worth it. Chocolate shops are plentiful also and their chocolates are pretty amazing. Lots to see, but it's not tiring. Much more open and more to see than Brugges.

Ghent is truly a city that inspires fairy tales. The whole town is made of the stuff of old time story telling. I can see how travellers prone to childhood nostalgia get that sweet sentiment for the grand town houses on the banks on either side of the river. The ale-houses, the little cosy inns, the church spires dominating the... More
