This museum always has something new to see, and the exhibition about light and lighting is fascinating. The tunnel of coloured light will make your eyes go funny, but in a good way, and the other parts of the exhibition are really interesting.

Another excellent museum in Ghent. We had several recommendations to go here, and so we did - and we were not disappointed. The building itself is magnificent, and the old seamlessly blends in with the new. And the new is sooooo white. And somewhat nautical. And pretty much, wherever you are in the museum, you can see the lovely courtyard... More

We were going to give this a miss but glad we didn't. It is a wonderful airy building with lots to see particularly with regard to the best in modern domestic design. Go into the lighting exhibition and take photos of your party in the 3 coloured rooms. They are bare except for a colour of light and the photos... More

It was a really interesting museum full of things from different periods. I particularly liked the section with the art nouveau furniture. The lighting exhibition was most interesting and it was clear that not a lot has changed since the invention of the light bulb, but how that changed our lives ! Great modern design icons and excellent / interesting... More

The Museum itself is a splendid 18th Palace in the old part of Ghent. When I was there the first part of the tour was through the restored rooms of the old house which house some very lovely furniture and had been elegantly restored. For some reason, perhaps a statement, each of the rooms had a rather horrible contemporary piece... More

An interesting museum in a lovely building! The light exhibition was especially interesting and was well laid out with plenty of great exhibits. The lighting features in the older styled rooms were very well done. The rest of the museum was pretty good too. Definitely worth a visit!

It's an odd place I felt, but the light exhibition was pretty cool. Wifi is free just ask from reception. Went in twice. It was open fairly late but near to closing time. When it got to closing time, all the lights were abruptly switched off and we were told that's it, we had to leave as it's closing time.... More

Whilst there are some interesting aspects to the permanent exhibits here, the really good part from our perspective was the temporary exhibit about the development and many other aspects of lighting. The topic is approached from both a historical and educational perspective, and there are also a series of installations and related pieces of art. Fascinating.

We had no idea of what to expect when visiting this museum, but we spent several delightful hours here. We liked the juxtaposition of old and new in the older part of the building, and thought the exhibit about the trash found in the oceans to be both fascinating and horrifying. We also loved the exhibit of chairs and the... More
