The museum is in an 18th-century house with objects displayed in the historic spaces. I loved the installation of the modern objects mixed with the historic space and objects. The back wall of the courtyard is the front of a new modern wing with permanent collection and special shows, both interesting (plastics in the ocean and Finn Juhl, when I... More

The sea garbage exhibit was interesting. The rest was not very interesting to me. Not the best thing I did in Ghent.

The design museum is not so big and don't expect to many big names here. But it sometimes has good temporary exhibitions like one on Coca-Cola in the past.

I think that the museum has wonderful works of arts, in overall it was a good experience. The museum was bigger than I expected. I like the permanent collection. What I did not like was the lack of information. There are not leaflets that explains for example that this was the house of a rich family "Hotel de Connink". When... More

For people who are looking for historic places in Ghent, this museum is a great diversion: modern, spacious and filled with light. There are already historic Art Deco pieces too, to be sure - but mostly it is conemporary stuff.

Currently featuring temporary exhibitions on the affect plastic has on the environment and the works of furniture designer Finn Juhl, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Design Museum. The exhibitions are well laid out, informative and thought provoking. The permanent collections feature Art Deco and Art Nouveau furniture and ceramics as well as a further collection modern furniture design... More

All kinds of stuff, but again, I am a museum goer with 3 little kids and they loved it. Beautiful vases, fascinating furniture, cups, saucers, what not? And a cute Playmobil activity for the children. Find the different playmobil-puppets in the different rooms. They skip the parts they don't like, study some rooms in detail, but the puppets make them... More

Interesting museum in a lovely old building in the centre of town. Currently includes a thought-provoking exhibition on the impact of discarded plastic on marine life - particularly liked the hilarious video on the life of a plastic bag. There is a diverse mix elsewhere, including lot of furniture and ceramics

Probably the setting is as interesting as the expositions . I am not sure that the recycled art was impressive yet it stirred my imagination. I liked the table made of old books and the 50th chairs

Yes, right now there is an exhibition about discarded plastic which is well enough done but we heard it all 20 years ago and not much has changed. But that's about a quarter of the space. The rest is devoted to modern furniture design, art nouveau, art deco and some rooms from the 19th century with Empire, Baroque and Directoire... More
