Whilst there are some interesting aspects to the permanent exhibits here, the really good part from our perspective was the temporary exhibit about the development and many other aspects of lighting. The topic is approached from both a historical and educational perspective, and there are also a series of installations and related pieces of art. Fascinating.

We had no idea of what to expect when visiting this museum, but we spent several delightful hours here. We liked the juxtaposition of old and new in the older part of the building, and thought the exhibit about the trash found in the oceans to be both fascinating and horrifying. We also loved the exhibit of chairs and the... More

There was an exhibition of lighting (Lightopia) when we visited which was brilliant; really interesting an different. Loved the contrast between the old and the new. Thoroughly recommend. Would also highly recommend the CityPass as great value for money.

A pleasant surprise in centre of old Ghent. Beautiful building and lovely displays. Lots to see in permanent collection and also regular exhibitions.

Slightly quirky little museum in a beautiful building in central Ghent. Interesting items covering many centuries and expansion work underway.

The museum is in an 18th-century house with objects displayed in the historic spaces. I loved the installation of the modern objects mixed with the historic space and objects. The back wall of the courtyard is the front of a new modern wing with permanent collection and special shows, both interesting (plastics in the ocean and Finn Juhl, when I... More

The sea garbage exhibit was interesting. The rest was not very interesting to me. Not the best thing I did in Ghent.

The design museum is not so big and don't expect to many big names here. But it sometimes has good temporary exhibitions like one on Coca-Cola in the past.
