Design

I loved the Design Museum, it is full of very good examples of design from old styles to the modern.

Only €2 for 18-25yr olds and lots to see and explore. Ideally would have more interactive exhibits but wasn't expecting them at a design museum I suppose! Chairs are cooler than I thought.

The design museum was fantastic. Not so big that your exhausted. I loved that great modern design is displayed in such a beautiful ancient building and setting. It has lockers for your bags

An impressive and varied collection of modern design examples in furniture, appliances, electronics, lighting, etc. If you are in the quaint Belgian town of Ghent you will not want to miss it.

You have to be interested in design obviously to visit here and we enjoyed it. Nothing outstanding but very interesting and a lovely building. The building itself is a design piece especially what is an elevator floor arrangement. And built around a courtyard it was. Obviously a really impressive home in by gone days.

We were fortunate enough to spend an entire afternoon at the Design Museum. Fantastic show of current designers of everything from jewelry to furniture, perfectly set in a gorgeous space. Beautiful permanent collection of modern furniture and Art Nouveau designs from ceramics to several entire rooms fully furnished. Van de Velde dinnerware and Lalique vases among the hundreds of pieces... More

An unexpected treasure with some outstanding exhibits, plus an excellent temporary exhibition on display when we visited. Covers a number of levels with exhibits presenting a wide range of styles. If you have any interest in design this museum should not be missed.

Strange mixture of old and new, with no explanation of relevance / juxtaposition. Actually quite a small museum. Interesting glassware if that’s your bag but on the whole not much to see, plus the usual pretentious “design” elements. If it was free it would be worth a breeze through, but it’s actually quite expensive. Give it a miss.

Been 3 times now, 2 of floors are the permanent exhibitions that change very little, but 2 of the floors change at regular intervals exhibiting mainly contemporary designs. There are no lifts so it could be a problem for less mobile people.

Nearly didn't have time to go, so glad we did. We loved the set up. Largely set in a beautiful old house showing a mixture of items. Mixing modern and old. The exhibition n the new section was great fun. From other reviews I must clearly know nothing about design or how to manage a museum but for us it... More
