Nice museum

Better than we'd expected. Great early twentieth century collections - some lovely art nouveau pieces. Good size and good selections. The courtyard is a haven on a hot day.

I would highly recommend this museum if you have an interest in design or architecture. The temporary display changes consistently and whilst I was there, they were displaying prototypes from new designers and also had a retrospective on. The permanent collection tastefully highlights the differences between Belgian and European works in both the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. We... More

This was my wife's favourite museum in Ghent. There was an exhibition on about the ant chair, with various displays and variations. The older parts of the house had modern designs in older rooms, contrasting the variation with the antique room and furniture - it looked better than it sounds. Would go again!

We like design & this museum was part of the "Less mainstream" Gent route suggested by Citypath Gent. So we went there. The final feeling is that this is the Arne Jacobsen museum. I even tought than this was a Flemish designer (he was Danish). It looks like a showroom of the chairs. Only few isolated things inspire you: the... More

The composition of the regular collection is very interesting. The museum regularly has temporary exhibitions as well, and they shed a light on otherwise boring stuff.

Out of 10 I would give this a 5. Huge exhibition of chairs. Same design different colours and missing bits. The 'making of' video was silent black and white and each stage introduced in English. Quite poor really. Some really nice glass in the permanent exhibition upstairs Must recommend you try the head in a helmet of cork. As an... More

Interesting and fresh exhibition in an awesome beautiful building. We went there because of the rain and it was a most welcome relief.

I loved the Design Museum, it is full of very good examples of design from old styles to the modern.

Only €2 for 18-25yr olds and lots to see and explore. Ideally would have more interactive exhibits but wasn't expecting them at a design museum I suppose! Chairs are cooler than I thought.

The design museum was fantastic. Not so big that your exhausted. I loved that great modern design is displayed in such a beautiful ancient building and setting. It has lockers for your bags
