Really interesting and worth stopping by for a visit

the museum spreads between the old building in town, and the new extension at the back. Caught a really interesting exhibition and would definitely recommend.

The museum itself is nice, but honestly nothing really special. It get so much more interesting when there are temporary exhibitions: then they chose more interesting and innovative ways to show items!

Full of mismatched furniture old and new and decorations that don`t go with their surroundings, this is the epitome of everything that good curation seeks to avoid. There are no written guides available, and virtually no staff, no interactive aids and only a random smattering of descriptive labeling - virtually non of which was in English. An interesting house -... More

Museums Are to often too crowded with objects or have a to large collection at display. The Design Museum in Gent suited me perfectly. You get to know central periods with out using the whole day. Another plus the staff, friendly and eager to explain. Worth a peak.

In an 18th century mansion, it shows how rooms were decorated in different eras from 17th Century onwards. Also has an amazing collection of Art Nouveau china, glass and furniture in the modern extension. When we were there, they had a stunning series of modern light installations in each room too. No café.

Every 3 months or so they have an special exhibit and it is always very interesting. It is not a very big museum but located centrally in ghent and always nice to go to. Special hint: when you exit the museum go to the right and then turn right on the first street. 50m further ahead on your right you... More

This museum always has something new to see, and the exhibition about light and lighting is fascinating. The tunnel of coloured light will make your eyes go funny, but in a good way, and the other parts of the exhibition are really interesting.

Another excellent museum in Ghent. We had several recommendations to go here, and so we did - and we were not disappointed. The building itself is magnificent, and the old seamlessly blends in with the new. And the new is sooooo white. And somewhat nautical. And pretty much, wherever you are in the museum, you can see the lovely courtyard... More

We were going to give this a miss but glad we didn't. It is a wonderful airy building with lots to see particularly with regard to the best in modern domestic design. Go into the lighting exhibition and take photos of your party in the 3 coloured rooms. They are bare except for a colour of light and the photos... More
