Owner description: Vooruit is a vibrant live performing arts center located in a 100 years old monument in the heart of Ghent. Since 1982, we have been offering countless cultural events like concerts, podium performances, parties, book presentations, debates... Vooruit is a significant meeting place for a very diverse public. Contributing to this is our popular Cafe with patio, where anyone can come enjoy a (vegetarian) meal or drink, meet for a chat, or catch up on some work.

Visited to see a concert. A good ten to fifteen minute walk from the centre of town and only a few euros in a taxi. Really lovely old music hall style building. I had been warned that the sound can be bad but I was relieved to find that this wasn't the case on the night we went. Buy tokens... More

A must if you are in Ghent! The food is great in the cafe. I was there many times. The auditorium is incredible. I was there for two conferences. It is a location with much history so be sure to inquire.

Great venue with excellent acoustics. The drink/ticket system was a bit confusing for us out-of-towners at first, but we got the gist pretty quickly.

My friend and I had meals here on two occasions, one lunch and a dinner. The food was lovely and freshly cooked, and very tasty. There is a good atmosphere in the place, good music. The building is beautifully preserved, the terrace modern and cool. Definitely a place to put on my list for the next time I visit Gent.

Beautiful building and a great atmosphere inside. They also have nice terrace which is great when it's sunny but usually quite busy so you might have to wait for a table.

Visited the cafeteria in the Vooruit Art Centre on my visit to Ghent. It was huge with lots of people, very relaxed, historic atmosphere. I had some soup, and it was very good. Spent an hour just relaxing with a friend, drinking soup and being on the wifi. Great place to spend an afternoon with friends, family or alone.

A cinema, a library and a theatre. That’s how we know Vooruit today. People can go there for a night out or just to relax. Vooruit also offers a bar and a restaurant where people can come together. I only went once to Vooruit. In 2012 I went to see a band playing in one of Vooruit’s beautiful rooms. The... More

The atmosphere in the huge cafeteria is very special. And you can feel the spirit; there is history in the air. It is a very warm atmosphere. The new terrace next to the building is great !!! If the weather is fine, you have sun, the colorful chairs add to the atmosphere. But take care for your knees, you might... More

Vooruit is the place to be in Ghent. It's Ghents most famous cultural spot, where you can enjoy good food made by the best chef with local ingredients, art, concerts, dance events and there's even place for performances, theathre and much more. The building itself is amazing..The bar sometimes reminds me of bars in Paris. De vooruit is not to... More

Built by architect Ferdinand Dierckens around 1914 this former hall for culturel events has a theatre, cinema and other public rooms. Nowadays a cultural center again you can visit the whole building guided by two lanes on the floor from the artists wardrobes in the basement to the roof. Ground floor houses a snack bar (restaurant) but I went instead... More
