as the liquercity Hasselt has a jenevermuseum, but that is closed now for renovation untill 3 may of 2014! You can always download an app on your mobile phone that guides you through a walk of 2,4 km throughout the city and tells you the story!

Go with adults only as it is quite technical but very interesting and you can taste some nice Jenever at the end of the visit !

Really interesting little museum and came away learning a lot about the history of the spirit. The best part was sampling a few of the better jenevers at the bar afterwards and having a good chat with the staff about both the drink and hasselt. The museum is quite small and I think that I enjoyed it more going first... More

you were told the history of Hasselt brewing jenever and were shown the industrial production of it. And you can even try it and by some bottles to take home or as apresent or as a souvenir

This small museum gives very good information on the history of Jenever (aka Genever) in Hasselt. WIth some interesting displays including an old still, tax books and Jenever family history followed by tastings- to be recommended for those visiting Hasselt who enjoy their drink

My colleague and I had a free afternoon in Hasselt, and decided to take a local site or two. Close by to our hotel was the National Jenever Museum. It was very interesting, and all about the history of alcohol and the process of distilling grain liquors. It is a self guided tour, and is offered for the most part... More

if you want to have an idea of distilling (also whisky) outside Scotland or Ireland, this exposition gives a very good image at the end you get a jenever in a pleasant museum "café". It's a pitty that the café is not accessible without a museum visit

The jenever museum was as fun as a museum about a liquor you'd perhaps never heard of could be. It was interesting to see how Jenever, the local spirit, was made and how little the process of production has changed over the years. The museum finds interesting ways of presenting this to tourists (the 'sniffing bottles' being perhaps the most... More

Wander round the old buildings, learn how Jenever was made, sample the smell of the aromatics, drink Jenever. Perfect. The range of Jenevers on sale at the bar is astounding-we liked the bitter orange most.

This place it's a really nice opportunity to learn about the history and making process of the Belgium Genever. There are interesting rooms with the old equipment they used distill the Gin. I went on February and it was really empty so I could walk and observe all the exhibition unhurried. The girl at the reception desk was really nice... More
