What an incredible place! The displays that wander throughout rooms on three floors and two buildings are filled with examples of centuries of life in this small town in Belgium. The name "Folklore" is somewhat misleading. There are rooms set up exactly as they might have been in the 1700s. Plus there are walls of beautiful art, costumes, and heart... More

This place is amazing. So full of so many local things from Tournai, you could spend hours here. I would thoroughly recommend it for a cultural experience.

The museum contains a bit of everything. One could spend hours. Unfortunately all information is in French only. Very old-fashioned layout of the museum. I was the only visitor which does not mean the chap at the till took the time to help me find the stairs to the toilet. He just turned away. Another man came forward and escorted... More

This museum has loads of stuff to look at. However, there is not a word of English available to tell you just what you are looking at.

Well worth a visit is this fascinating, intelligently conceived Musée du Folklore set out in a striking seventeenth-century building, which explores the daily lives and occupations of Tournai’s citizens over the ages. Among the exhibits are engaging scenes with lifelike figures of Tournaisiens working: at a loom, in a forge, a cobbler’s shop, a farm kitchen, a bar, a pharmacy,... More

It is only 2 euros entrance fee and there are 3 floors of amazing exhibits. It was like a tardis the rooms just kept going on from one to another. You could spend all day there, there was so much to see crammed in every corner. It is not necessary to know any french as a lot of the exhibits... More

Much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. A marvellous collection, painstakingly collected and displayed. I am not usually a museam person, disliking looking at old coins, broken pottery, swords and armour and musty old clothes but this is different. I really enjoyed it. (also worth noting that, although entrance is inexpensive, museums are free on the first Sunday... More

We spent a fascinating one hour and half ( not long enough ) viewing this mix of local culture, industry and history. It clearly demonstrated the regional importance that Tournai had held in the past. The staff were very courteous and helpful with our enquiries. We will certainly return when we next visit Tournai and spend longer viewing the exhibits.
