Mons/Bergen is the cultural capital city of Europe during 2015! So really worth the visit. As entering the city, you find an enormous piece of art from Arne Quinze (called The Passenger). We visited Mons during X-mas holiday, so there was a little Xmas market & a big ice skating square. From the Grand Place you can begin your walk... More

I visited Brussels for 2014/15 New Year and the Grand Place took my breath away at night with a music and light display. The best word to describe it is Magical!! We sat and had mulled wine and hot chocolate in one of the bars in Grand Place and soaked up the atmosphere for a good portion of the night... More

One of the most beautiful typical Belgian Grand Places. Nice place to have coffee, lunch, dinner or some beer (the famous belgian!) or drinks.

On the Grand Place you can find the Tourists Office and plenty of restaurants. The major Mons attractions are also a 5 minute walk (or less) from this square. I also highly recommend the take-away sandwich shop on the corner of the square, across the street from the pizza place: order a baguette with ham, cheese, and butter, then head... More

I was there only for an afternoon, but I did actually love the Grand Place: it's not very big, but it was full of live, with lots of people and a nice street market, where you could have a drink, eat something, and buy some small presents.... As I've said in the title, it's not as grand as that from... More

Nice square, with a lot of restaurants, with big terraces, ancient buildings, fountain, etc. etc. Good to spend some hours wining and dining! once a year there's a big liberation parade wit lots of tanks etc. very interesting!

This Grand Place is certainly one of the nicest ones in Belgium. The square is about 10 minutes walking from the train station. Don't miss the little monkey in front of the Town Hall , which is the 'mascot' of the city. On a sunny day, enjoy a beer or a glass of wine, sitting in one of the coffee... More

This is a very nice city center with very old buildings. There is a lot of shopping in the area and many outdoor and indoor dining choices. There are many clothes and chocolate shops. If you are in the area, this is a good place to spend a fun, relaxing day.

After a day of visiting multiple battle sites, marching into the Grand Place and finishing the day at Saint Symphorian War Cemetry we came back here for supper and to watch the fireworks and the projections of the Angel of Mons many thanks to the town for organising such a wonderful event
