Very typical Brussels bar with great history and reputation. Central location, always busy with great range of beer. Knowledgable staff, efficient service and if the suns shining a good place to sit outside and watch Brussels walk by. Well worth a visit.

An attractive Brussels tavern essentially unchanged since the early twentieth century. High, smoke-stained ceilings, nice wooden tables and interesting pictures and old advertisements on the walls. It had a pleasant buzz the October Sunday lunchtime we went, but wasn't unbearably noisy (and no canned music). Excellent draught beer and a limited but ok menu including good omelettes, croques monsieur and... More

we tasted our first beers at this place. The location is very central and easy to find. They have different types of beer and the staff is very helpful.

We returned to La Mort Subite (Sudden Death) after finding this place on a previous trip and falling in love with it. The place was founded in 1928 and the interior of the bar is classic art deco. The tables are packed in and on weekend nights this place gets really full. The waiters still manage to keep the flow... More

This place is awesome and frankly, the best thing in Brussels!!! If we hadn't found this little treasure, our trip to Brussels would have been a huge disappointment. Amazing selection of beers which taste clean and well looked after. The service is fantastic, a proper Belgian beer hall. Its not a restaurant. It's a beer hall. It serves beer. And... More

I might be a little jaded because I am an expat living in Brussels but I really love this place and we bring all of our Canadian guests here. The decor is amazingly authentic and the service is exceptionally Bruxelloise... By this I mean professional but with a clever and sarcastic, self-deprecating sense of humour. Understanding this uniquely Belgian sensibility... More

Lovely bar and beer. Really loved the fact that it still has the original 1920s decor. Waiter was really nice, even though I had a language brain burp when trying to order in French. Food looked nice and we had a massive plate of cheese with our beer. Enjoyed it here and would visit again if in Brussels.

I realize that my review is actually 11 years old, but I didn't have a Trip Advisor account back then (and only now thought about it after having yet another disappointing beer elsewhere). So, 11 years ago, they had a cherry beer, and it was amazing, almost like wine. (I like wine.) When I got back to the States, a... More
