Agree with most of the reviews, a must bar to visit. A great range of beers but 12 Euros for a large beer is a bit steep, Food is basic but enjoyable, can recommend the Brussels pate; you get a huge slice of bread and a large portion of pate. The staff are strange, slow to take the orders at... More

I felt really terrible because my mobile phone got stolen by a thief looking girl, but the restaurant didn't step up. Even pretended they don't speak English(they did speak fluent English while explaining the menu for me.), said they didn't see anyone like I described. We called the staff to do something for that thief girl's annoying me, they all... More

Charming brasserie centrally located between the Cathedral and the Royal gallery. Beers are interesting and reasonably priced. Snacks are served - I had the cheese platter which was very generous but poor quality (and consisting of many cubes of the same cheese).

Plenty of choice of beers...pleasant staff...nice environment...what more could you want? Little bit pricey, but so are the other specialist pubs in downtown Brussels

The beer was excellent (several tasted!!!). I liked the fact that it hasn't changed and was a retreat from the modern glass and stainless steels (and cold!!) bars that seem to be the fashion. A must go-to if you are in Brussels.

You feel like you time travelled once you entered. And having a glass or two of their Cherry beer becomes a real treat when you discover the history of why the place was named so. Nice place to relax after a long day of walking and sightseeing.

Very typical Brussels bar with great history and reputation. Central location, always busy with great range of beer. Knowledgable staff, efficient service and if the suns shining a good place to sit outside and watch Brussels walk by. Well worth a visit.

An attractive Brussels tavern essentially unchanged since the early twentieth century. High, smoke-stained ceilings, nice wooden tables and interesting pictures and old advertisements on the walls. It had a pleasant buzz the October Sunday lunchtime we went, but wasn't unbearably noisy (and no canned music). Excellent draught beer and a limited but ok menu including good omelettes, croques monsieur and... More

we tasted our first beers at this place. The location is very central and easy to find. They have different types of beer and the staff is very helpful.

We returned to La Mort Subite (Sudden Death) after finding this place on a previous trip and falling in love with it. The place was founded in 1928 and the interior of the bar is classic art deco. The tables are packed in and on weekend nights this place gets really full. The waiters still manage to keep the flow... More
