The church is still used for celebrations of the parish or for big national celebrations. But the basilica is more than that. The basilica has also an important cultural function. It’s a magnificent Art Deco monument, there are two museums, there are yearly different expositions and you can enjoy a wonderful view over Brussels! « less

You can access this fine church via the hop on hop off bus in Brussels or just go there. Very quiet area, serenity can be found here, photographs are allowed. Well worth the visit to see the fine work inside this wonderful basilica.

It was one of the highlights of our stay in Brussels to visit this church and go up to the panorama platform. We took the metro to Simonis and then walked through the park (almost 1 km), but you can also take tram 19 (direction Groot Bijgaardenm, underground stop), the basilica is the second stop. To get to the top... More

The basilica is a grand monument and offers a peaceful retreat. If you want to some tranquility and peace head there.. Liked it very much... It has the Elisabeth Park in front which is also a good place for a leisurely stroll

I do know that many Brüsselers don't like this Basilika, as they find it too pompous and too modern. To me it is simply great and I have often taken friends there. It is like a huge place for Meditation and evening concerts there are an experience of Sound. Besides - nice church cafe downstairs

Very beautiful park outside and the church is also a great place to see. However, I didn't apreciate that it's closed the most of time!

Basilica is impressive with its size and architecture. Maybe, exterior is more interesting than interior, but there are great stained glass. It is very interesting to take the lift (5 eur fee) and do walk around the dome bottom about 50 m tall. View over the city is really worth of action. Few stops by tram from the Basilica, Molenbeek... It is definitely one of the largest church I have seen. It seems amazing from outside but inside there is nothing really interesting. The church is still actively used. In afternoon, the park around the church is great for picnic, a lot of locals had a great time here. It is located in the west of Brussels.

Really really beautiful! You must see it! It's free and it's amazing to see it from outside and also inside! When I was there the machine to buy the tickets to go up wasn't working so we didn't go there but if I could I would have also went up! Even with this issue I loved it!

Very impressive church because is so big. Looks great outside than inside, but the view from the worth the visit. You can get up very quick with the elevators and you have to pay 5 euro for one ticket. Upstairs you have an impressive 360 degree view of Brussels.
