The church is still used for celebrations of the parish or for big national celebrations. But the basilica is more than that. The basilica has also an important cultural function. It’s a magnificent Art Deco monument, there are two museums, there are yearly different expositions and you can enjoy a wonderful view over Brussels! « less

Really really beautiful! You must see it! It's free and it's amazing to see it from outside and also inside! When I was there the machine to buy the tickets to go up wasn't working so we didn't go there but if I could I would have also went up! Even with this issue I loved it!

Very impressive church because is so big. Looks great outside than inside, but the view from the worth the visit. You can get up very quick with the elevators and you have to pay 5 euro for one ticket. Upstairs you have an impressive 360 degree view of Brussels.

The church is very impressive and can been seen from all over the city. Having said that, it is built of red brick which gives it a very heavy and dull appearance, and the interior is a disappointment when compared to some of the other city churches (try the "Sablon"!)

I found this a little disappointing. I had been told it was art deco, but while I see the influence, I found it very plain. Very conventional floorplan, but built with concrete and bricks rather than stone. The nave is huge, and the stained glass is quite attractive, but I couldn't get the ticket machine to sell me a ticket... More

Thanks for your visit. We've been experiencing some problems with the ticket machine in the past and are aware of the issue. We're trying our best to get it fixed. You can always buy tickets in our gift shop as well. More

Apparently this is the fifth largest Roman Catholic (or possibly Christian) church in the world. Built on a small hill overlooking Brussels, the views from the top (you can walk around the dome) are excellent. The church isn't all that old. It's a folly of King Leopold's. Not very impressive from the outside, it has huge spaces which must be... More

Had seen this basilica in the distance on previous trips to Brussels but didnt go then, so as we had a spare Sunday decided to make the effort, and glad we did. It is a way out from the city, 2.2 miles from the end of Rue Neuve/ Rogier, down boulevard Leopold II, so we had thought about using the... More

This church is away from the city center, we had to take a metro but the leisure stroll through the park before approaching the church is a plus. There weren't too many visitors in this church so it's pretty quiet. Just pay 5 euros to go to the top for a panoramic view of Brussels! Worth a visit just for... More

I was really looking forward to visiting this church as it overlooks Brussels. I was a bit disappointed with it from the inside - its modern with bricks showing on the walls. It looks more amazing from the outside. You can pay 5 euros to take a lift to the top which overlooks the whole city - an amazing view... More

It is an immense construction. I visited it in January 2012 (I had to select July 2012 because otherwise Tripadvisor would´t allow my review). We paid a fee in order to see a Christmas Jesus scene contest, very interesting. But the Basilica itself is not as incredible as Sint Baaf Cathedral (Gand) if we speak about the details of the...
