The panorama museum was very good, no sounds of battle though as advertised, could have done with a bit more on where on the battlefield the important individual battles were fought. Lots of building works going on as 2015 is the 200th anniversary of the battle, I think accommodation and new museums going up, looks like it'll be a lot... More

We walked to the Brussels Midi station and caught the 'W' bus to the 'Champ de Bataille' which seemed to be a bit of a mystery trip to everyone we asked, the bus stopping dozens of times until a kind local told us where to disembark and waved in the general direction of the battle site. We were a bit... More

The area around the Butte du Lion is a total disaster at the moment with extensive roadworks and renovations making it very hard to get close to the visitor centre. If you factor in a long walk for senior citizens and it's not very visitor friendly at the moment. I hope they get their act together sooner rather than later... More

Those renovations should make for a much better presentation for the big Bicentennial celebration for next year. The climb to the top of the Lion's mound is exhilarating and does present an awesome panoramic view.

The Panorama is spectacular and best visited at the end, after the films at the Visitor Centre. The Butte de Lion is not for the unfit ... my legs ached for two days afterwards.

I spent 3-4 hours at the battle site and enjoyed it very much. The 200 plus steps up the Lion's Mound presents a wonderful view of the battlefield and surrounding buildings and sites. It's a moving experience to finally see this. There is an exhibit on the history of the mound. Very interesting since most of this was new info.... More

The panoramic thetre inside isn't up to much, but the view from the Lions mound is well worth the climb up! And a few Belgian strong beers afterwords will make it all worth while.

A very informative and illustrious small museum. It focuses its display on the Battle of Waterloo, which happened right at this site in 19th century. You gotta buy a full-pass ticket here which enable you to enter the Panorama and visitor's center. At the panorama you will have a 360 degree depiction of the Battle of Waterloo. After that, you... The Lion's Mound overlooks the Waterloo battlefield and it is possible, with a little perseverance, to identify the farmhouses that were caught up in the battle. Binoculars would be helpful. It is a steep climb but worthwhile. Before the climb see the two films on show of about 15 minutes each describing the context of the battle. Then go and... More

To climb the hill should have fitness, but the view from the lions mound is beautiful. Also the panorama with the waterloo battle is very nice.
