We went to see this monument today, a chilly but sunny day. I have checked the map and route before going, however getting there was not easy. Hardly any sign on the highway from Brussels mentioning this attraction. Some roads were closed due to market today so we had to turn around. When we were almost there we had to... More

not much to see before June 2015 as under construction (road partly closed). but yin can try the various sites on the battlefield; like Hougoumont (being restored too) and Mont Saint Jean, where the WATERLOO brewery is hiding.

Interesting to walk on the path of history. After you visit Wellington Museum in Waterloo, you can go 4 km to the Hill and walk another 226 steps to the top. Great view. You wont regret the effort.

The mound as mentioned by others is a hard climb so be prepared. Narrow steps take you to the top, they are only wide enough for one person. The view from the top was worth it though. Myself and friends climbed it in full motorcycle gear..... The visitor centre is ok. The restaurant next door could have been friendlier. Worth... More

It was hard to get up, if youa re visiting it with people with mobility problems, you should consider not to go up, but if you are an average person, it is really nice to make the efford. Wonderful view, and pictures. Really nice.

Guess they put it on a this spot for an important reason on the battlefield it was built only a few years after the battle and the lion on top it's massive loads stairs to climb to reach the top which we didn't bother to climb

I can't say enough about how impressed I was by the panorama. I wasn't expecting to be blown away, trust me. But it truly is remarkable. It gives you an excellent view of what the battle would have looked like at its peak. Unique and very well presented.

Unfortunately the surroundings of the monument currently consists of one large building site at the moment in preparation for next years 200th anniversary of the battle, having said that everything is open and accessible with some caution in places, the mound is worth the climb if you can make it, giving you a perfect view of the battlefield. Don't miss... More

So far the place is muddy and in renovation for the Waterloo Bicentenial... The trucks of the battlefield tour stopped their operation as some roads are closed (vertes bornes). I ll guess the biggest work will be done by mid may 2015. Best thing to do is hire a guide in advance, "guides 1815" (they have a site) and they... More

A new visitor centre is being built for the double centenary next year and there was a lot of upheaval around the site of the Lion's Mound and Panorama when we were there. Despite this we really enjoyed it all. We booked a tour guide for 2hrs who pulled it all together for us in conjunction with travel around the... More
