Surrounded by lots of coffee shops and hosts a great market on Saturday mornings. A pretty square with lots going on around it. Well worth a visit.

The size of the market square is huge, and is surrounded by grand old buildings. The cathedral dominates the buildings. It is a good place to 'people watch', or just enjoy the sunshine.

Most reviews seem to underestimate how gorgeous this place is. Go on saturday for the market and you won't be disappointed. Lovely architecture, great restaurants and delightful riverside walks. Ideal for a day out on the train from antwerp.

This Market Square is surrounded by many beautiful buildings but on a Monday which is not a market day it is quiet and devoid of any atmosphere. From reading other reviews Saturday is the day to visit. Unfortunately I could not change the itinerary of our River Cruise!

Lovely area with some great historical buildings. Nice location for a drink any day, but quiet in the evening. Beautiful for a short visit. Not the place for an extended stay unless you are looking for quiet walks and afternoon drinks.

We loved visiting Mechelen since its not crowded at all This lovely square is so cute. It was easy to find a place to sit and chill with a beer in a cafe outside while listening to the bells of St. Rumbold's Cathedral. It will be a memorable experience.

With the archecturally attractive St Rombouts Cathedral to the western corner, the Stadhuis to the east and some attractive shopping streets to the south, this old market square is flanked by a number of bars, cafe's and restaurants. A very pleasant place to sit and sip on a sunny afternoon......
