I have always found that this water fountain is the main starting point for our site tour around this lovely city! It is located in front of the city hall & very close to the lovely historic church. The tourists & locals can enjoy this area where the shops & restaurants can be enjoyed by all!

On first glance a visitor could not guess what the importance of this fountain in the main market square in front of the Town Hall is. It tells the story of a young Roman soldier cutting off the hand of the feared mythical giant Druon Antigoon who lived in the river guarding a bridge and demanding tolls from passing ships.... More

Brabo fountain sits in Grote Markt,it is a great photo opportunity, it is in the heart of the old city, surrounded by the Town Hall and other amazing looking buildings There are plenty of small cafes to take a rest whilst admiring the views, only a 3 minute walk from Groenplaats

The fountain, by itself is underwhelming. However given its location in the Grote Market, flanked by architectural buildings, this place is worth visiting. There is a history attached to the fountain and the photo opportunities are good and scenic.

The story of the hero Brabo, according to the Antwerp legend is cute. The statue itself isn't too impressive, but could be photographed with nice backgrounds.

The whole square with the fountain is very pretty. The fountain is the place which atracts tourists' attention, to take pictures.

The fountain itself is average, however it is the location on the Grote Markt with the buildings in the background that make for nice photo opportunities.

It's a normal statue with a fountain, but the story of Brabo and the city is really interesting, you must hear it.

Have a look at this impressive monument. The brave Roman soldier Brabo is throwing the hand of the Giant Druoon Antigoon into the river Schelde. Thus freeing the ships from paying high taxes when entering the city. Try to find the hand .... of which the name Antwerpen (hand werpen = hand throwing) originates -)
