Worth the trek out to the south east of Antwerp. It's possible to walk it from the centre ... although we took the tram back. When you do come upon the street of houses, you can't help but laugh and marvel !

The houses in this neighborhood are amazing. Stately mansions, a lot of them protected. I had to opportunity to enter one of them: high ceilings, original glassworks... It's definitely worth taking a stroll here.
YOu can easily reach Zurenbog by tram or when you get off at Berchem train station. Admire the nice turn of the century architecture and have a drink or a bite at the many cafés and restaurants around the Dageraadplaats. The children will love to play there too !
Zurenborg deserves a visit, just go for a walk there, have a coffee @ Watman or go for a beer @ Zeezicht. Visit Cogels Osylei with its beautiful architecture
Nice Antwerp neighbourhood, friendly not posh, lovely architecture. Walk along the rail bridge from the central station (the left side is best for art nouveau houses). You will pas the Jewish school, synaegoge and see plenty of homes with the Mezuzah (doorpost scroll). Go to French bakery Domestique and eat your croissants in the sun on the benches just in...

Nice terraces filled with creative people, perfect for a warm summer evening.
Especially Dageraadplaats. I love that square. Always so lively and so friendly. If it weren't for the temperatures you could think you were somewhere in the South of France or Spain. The rest of the neighborhood is well worth a stroll for the nice turn of the century architecture.
have a meal here on a summer evening, come for an open air market or one of their events
Especially the dageraadplaats, has been upgraded from a grey dark place to a lively one, with lots of foreigners and artists around. During the day, out of school hours children go there to play in a friendly environment. Its not really made to visit, rather to live it.
