Typical Belgian City. Gorgeous architecture even to an untrained clueless person like myself. Very friendly people and nice vibe in the area.

On a blue-sky day in January, every angle was worth a photo, with the majestic cathedral soaring to one side, melodious bells chiming regularly, the impressive merchants' houses outdoing each other in splendour and the quirky Brabo fountain. Equally gorgeous in the sunshine or at night. Don't bother with the overpriced bars with bored young waiters around the square though,... More

Although touristic a must see in Antwerp and not far from the actual square you'll still find loads of local stores, pubs and restaurants

When you're in the city always pass by the station, the cathedral, the river area and the grote markt. These are the sights to behold once in Antwerp and it's what makes the city unique in it's own ways. Just a fun little fact: They say the name for the city (antwerpen) is derived from the dutch words "hand werpen"... More

Wonderful to see, but a change in trams makes this no longer available to a lot of people and many for rent signs and over priced declining cafes and restos. Look up - see the roofs, Imagine what it was in its heyday.

The Grote Market, right in the City Centre is stunning. The unusual shapes and angles connecting the many streets, the marvellous architecture and the neighbourhood buildings including the City Hall make this place a must visit for any tourist in Antwerp.

I love living in the city center, so close to the Catherdal, Grote Markt, Groenplaats, take a seat in one of many "terrasjes" or just walk a bit, take a picture of Brabo, and just enjoy this city

Very nice square, yes nicer than the one in Brussels, and with its many little streets connecting into it, make for an interesting setting. Every angle could be photographed, and every angle has its own charm. If you are in Antwerp, you got to see this.

Just stand there and admire the scale and majesty of this impressive city square; its Flemish architecture, busy bars/cafes and admire the gilding on the statuary at the top of the buildings

We were there 1 month ago. It was very cold. Many small shops and more shopping... More
