to be honest i don't really know what is this place. it's some kind of a learning centre for children. but on the inside, there's an amazing cafe with amazing decoration. you can take a photo with the photobooth and doodle in one of the table. the view of the river from the castle is amazing, you can walk around... The Steen on the River Scheldt is a citadel that was on the town wall and would regulate traffic in and out of the city pre 1500s. It has now been restored and dedicated to a bunch of Canadians who during WWII captured the wharf area with the help of the Belgium resistance to free the supply route up for... More

Inside the castle has child development center. Excellent access to the waterfront land, where you can sit on a bench and watch the river.

It was my first visit to Antwerpen. We parked the car on the road side on the way to Antwerpen Centrum. Soon I noticed an old fortress near by. I decided to visit it to answer my curiousity. It is free (no admission fee). Then I realized that is an oldest building in town, hundreds years old & it is... More

That was my first visit to Antwerpen with my Dutch friends. We parked the car on the road side on the way to Antwerpen Centrum. Soon I noticed an interesting view of old fortress. At that time I have no idea what it is. So I decide to take a short visit to answer my curiousity. I supprised when realize... More

Het Steen is a medieval fortress in the old city centre and it was built after the Viking incursions in the early Middle Ages as the first stone fortress of Antwerp. It´s very nice to walk around this Castle.

We were there, it was there, so we walked through. There is a long walkway that goes along most of this area. It was definitely worth taking a look, otherwise not that much to see. The city skyline looking back was impressive. And people watching is always fun. So much to do in the area and this was a good... More

A little disappointing. Not much to it to see. We were in Antwerp for only a short time, but we wanted to include Het Steen in our plans. If you looking for something that only takes a few minutes to see - this would be it. Did enjoy walking through the central square in Antwerp.

A little castle situated by the water, I made a quick little stop here to check it out. Truth be told, there's not a whole lot to be seen here, but it did have significance during the war. It was interesting to read how many Canadians helped defend this position until the end of the war.

They say it looks beautiful when lit in the night. Well I was not lucky to see it at night, but, I can say it must be true because its structure is so perfect and sea next to it makes it more beautiful. Not much to see but yes a place worth going to sit outside and see boats passing... More
