Visiting the steen castle in Antwerpen is well worth the time spent. free entry and it is situated on the banks of the river in a beautiful surrounding area. It is quite small though and a visit will take you less than 5 minutes but still worth it

Het Steen (Stone Castle) is the oldest building in Antwerp, built in the Middle Ages around the year 1200, it is an outstanding historical building worthy of a look, it takes a commanding position on the bank of the Schelde. Walk over to the Left Bank via St.Anna's Tunnel for a great view of the castle.

Even though not big, this is one of those places that you may come across when you allow yourself to wonder around and get lost in an unknown place. Located in front of the river, and even though I wasn't able to see what it is like inside, I think it is a very cool fortress to see. You can't... More

We visited outside of operating hours and found we had explored everything in about 3 minutes. Very disappointed with the visit as there isn't anything to do if the inside is closed.

Aeesome castle on the river Schelde shore, perfectly maintained. Next to the path leading to the gate there's the statue of the legendary giant Antigoon (you can't miss it) from which legend the city of Antwerp got its name.

to be honest i don't really know what is this place. it's some kind of a learning centre for children. but on the inside, there's an amazing cafe with amazing decoration. you can take a photo with the photobooth and doodle in one of the table. the view of the river from the castle is amazing, you can walk around... The Steen on the River Scheldt is a citadel that was on the town wall and would regulate traffic in and out of the city pre 1500s. It has now been restored and dedicated to a bunch of Canadians who during WWII captured the wharf area with the help of the Belgium resistance to free the supply route up for... More

Inside the castle has child development center. Excellent access to the waterfront land, where you can sit on a bench and watch the river.

It was my first visit to Antwerpen. We parked the car on the road side on the way to Antwerpen Centrum. Soon I noticed an old fortress near by. I decided to visit it to answer my curiousity. It is free (no admission fee). Then I realized that is an oldest building in town, hundreds years old & it is... More

That was my first visit to Antwerpen with my Dutch friends. We parked the car on the road side on the way to Antwerpen Centrum. Soon I noticed an interesting view of old fortress. At that time I have no idea what it is. So I decide to take a short visit to answer my curiousity. I supprised when realize... More
