I'm not sure what it was about this cathedral but, to me, it seemed more like an art gallery than a place of worship. I've been to many churches and cathedrals and this is one of the few that was lacking in a spiritual atmosphere. That's not to say you shouldn't visit it. There are some remarkable paintings there, particularly... More

Part of the cathedral was undergoing renovation, but this was more than made up for by the exhibition of paintings in addition to the ones usually hanging there. A very wide cathedral. Well worth the entry fee.

Beautiful Cathedral, small nice chapels and several Rubens and other Flamish important painters. Worth to visit, even for the non-Roman Catholics, and it is located in the center of the town.

Seeing such beautiful artworks in such an appropriate setting gives one a real feel for their role in the life of the 17th century. To see Rubens' Descent From the Cross was a thrill.

The interior is packed with stunning Rubens paintings but it's in the same time very different from many other gothic cathedrals. This one is very light on the inside. The brightness absolutely struck me.

This was such a magnificent piece of architecture! The literature states that this cathedral "took 169 years to be built and it's the largest Gothic structure in the Netherlands."-Visit Antwerp Guide. I probably took no less than 50 pictures while visiting the cathedral because of the amazing attention to detail displayed throughout. It was worth every euro I paid to... More

.......I made a bee line for Antwerp Cathedral of Our Lady (Onze-lieve-Vrouwekathedraal) which is on one side of Groenplatz. Not being used to huge Gothic structures, this one is a bit overwhelming. To start with as I’ve mentioned it’s huge, in fact the largest gothic church in the Low Countries. The spire stands 123mt (404ft) and has identical golden clocks... More
