a nice place to take a walk with friends at sunset, windy though. Take a jacket along. Enjoy watching the population coming and going...just appreciate the time and the company.

I enjoyed walking by the port, especially given my interest in shipping and the historical significance it represents here. I kinda walked by it quickly, and that's it. There isn't to much to do here, per se.

The Port area at Antwerp is not a pretty place. The area looks like it has not been touched for many years. There is some works underway but it looks like it will be many years until this becomes an interesting place to visit.

We walked to the port but you can also take public transport. The Museum Mas is an interesting building, moreover you can go up the escalators to reach the top floor with magnificient views of the city. Definitely well worth a visit.

The our of the Port of Antwerp is really a great way to spend an afternoon. It was especially good for our family because we were accompanied by our friend and relative that used to work here. It was a beautiful sunny day and the harbour boat was very nice and clean.

We took the train from Brussels and walked all over Antwerp. We covered miles but are fit so it wasn't a problem at all. We walked from the train station to the port going through the city center and enjoying all the old buildings and shops. The city is known for it's diamond sales and there are plenty of stores... Our tour was part of a canal tour, and it is huge. World War II in Europe was won from this port, as the Allies went across Europe most every thing needed came here. Know your History, it makes travel so much more fulfilling.

Took the 3 hour afternoon boat trip with Flavian boats round the port which is amazing, if only for the vast area it cover (seems like 3 times the area of Antwerp city). Trip was 15 euros and well worth it. Commentary not amazing, but we had popped into the Port of Antwerp office/showplace just beside the MAS museum and... More

Antwerp is in the province of Belgium - located on the river Scheldt - a working port linked to the North Sea. In the 1st century AD the Gallo Romans vicus (provincial) civilisation settled (pottery and glass shards excavated in the 1950/1960s). After the Romans left around 4th century AD, the Germanic tribes settled around Antwerpen. From mid 5th century... More
