Best to go with train because the zoo isjust located next to Antwerp train station. It's worth a day visit, good for family and young children.

Enjoyed the gardens as much as the zoo. If you aren't staying in Antwerp, take a day trip on the train. The station is right across from the zoo.

It's an old fashioned zoo, it's a romantic park, it's a collection of unusual historic buildings and it's right next to the station. While compact in size, there is quite a lot to see, and the 19th century atmosphere of the place is well preserved. The famous Egyptian temple is currently under restoration. Don't miss the bird house and the... More

The Jardin Zoo is in Antwerp city centre in a narrow track of land beside the railway station. If it were just a city park with small animals then a stroll through the well maintained gardens would be lovely. BUT it isn't. It is home to large wild animals - elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, etc., all confined in inappropriate spaces.... More

Nice old zoo in the middle off town! Rebuilding so not everything was open, but it is better for the animals in the future.

In the middle of Antwerp, next to the marvelous railway station, you will find the Antwerp Zoo. It’s a great place to visit with a beautiful park and some intriguing locations to visit. Animals living during the night are an adventure for kids… dark and mysterious. Watching pinguins and fish in a belle-époque building, completely renewed for a stunning under... More

Its a city zoo, from a time where animals where put on display, that means space is limited and the current challenge for the zoo is upgrading it to make the animals comfortable. This is very visual here, you can see the difference between the newer sections and older parts. There is alot there on a small patch of land.
