great day out

Great place to visit, old zoo in the center of the city... old buildings as in "architecture", the infrastructure is contempory.

The is just next to the central station making it the first thing you see when arriving in Antwerp. It is old and has a good variety. However, the small area makes much of the animals locked up in small cages. They are not properly kept. I guess Antwerp should relocate it and make a better use of the area.

The zoo is very nice with lots os small paths, gardening and big trees. It keeps the 19th Century look which is lovely. The problem is that most big animals are kept in small spaces (the lion, jaguar, panther...) a really sad experience, even my kids said the animals looked soooo sad (!). Also the aquarium has few animals and... More

It is a 19th century zoo ... I have NEVER seen a zoo with big animals looking so sad, inside their incredibly small cages (especially the big apes). So sad ...

It is every time joy when you visit Antwerp zoo. You will be amazed how big it is while it is located in the very centre of Antwerp! For all age groups, believe this one worth a visit. There is also an hourly show (or a show every two hours) for seals, I did not have the chance to see... More

It's a very beautiful Zoo. There are many interesting animals as well as an aquarium. I can only recommend it. Also the Gift Shop is not as expensive as usual Zoo gift shops.

The oldest zoo in the world is incredible. Where do you start? How do you end? The architecture and history surrounding God's amazing creatures are like a dream come true!

A super half day visit with well planned enclosures which were not over-crowded. A good selection of animals in a pretty area. Right next to the station which itself is worthy of exploring.

I think we never been to such a poor Zoo in our life. It has nothing to do with a number of animals in it. Those poor animals are closed in a very small places. They even look poor and not healthy. All Zoo stinks of mold and ...... Moreover overpriced. One adult + 1 child - 40 euro. Even,... More

This is a real nice zoo with original buildings. The renovated aquarium area is wonderful. The free otter show is real cool for kids! It's worth buying the family pass if you plan to visit more than once as it gives you access to Planckendael Zoo too.
