That is, as long as you avoid the crowds in the weekends... From the end of April for a couple of weeks, this beautiful place is open to the public and they come out in crowds, so try to avoid the weekends. The azaleas and rhododendrons are in full bloom and produce a rainbow of colors. The estate of Clingendael... More

Not really Japanese, but a nice Japanese inspired garden, typical of the time when it was designed. Only opened during certain periods (nowadays also 2 weeks of autumn openings, highly recommended).

It is not too big, but beautifully kept. The park surrounding it is tremendous. A nice place to get out of the city, but not too far away and easy to reach by bus.

So I heard a lot about this. Went there with my boyfriend, who really wanted to see it. I mean, expectations were high. And yes, it's gorgeous. I mean, it's been working on being gorgeous for hundred something years. But I couldn't help thinking: so, was that it then?

Absolutely beautiful in June. I visit it almost every year and it is always a feast for the eyes. The Rhododendron is also flourishing by that time and the walk through the park is very enjoyable.

Nice part of Clingendaal park. Beautiful park, and this is a nice side trek from the main park. The main park is especially nice in spring/early summer.

The Japanese Garden is only open twice a year for a limited time, so you have to plan it well. It is small, but so beautiful. It is part of a bigger park, Clingendael which is amazing as well, famous for its rhododendrons in all possible colors. Although it is pretty close situated to the centre of The Hague, it... More

We live close by to Clingendael park but don't go very often. However we should do. A big park near the centre of town, with a lovely japanese garden as well. Some real nice flowers and trees to see and if you are tiered the park has a teahouse that serves food. Near the entrance there is a beekeeper that... More

Beautiful place to spend an hour gazing at the plants and flowers. Takes approximately 35 minutes on foot from Den Haag central station to reach the garden (if you don't want to go by bus).
