I never visited the museum in my life and I live in the city, but I am now ashamed... It is great and fantastic.

Coming in here was a good excuse to get out of the rain and I arrived at a good time, as a tour was just about to start. Unfortunately the tour was in Dutch, so they allowed me to borrow an English audioguide and follow along with the group. It’s a shame that I wasn’t in The Hague on a... More

In order to get the most out of visiting the museum...YOU MUST DO THE TOUR! They run frequently in Dutch and unfortunately there is only one English tour a week. Doesn't matter! Even if you don't understand the words, you'll get to see the main parts of the prison which only the tours go on. There is an audio guide... More

Well preserved building. You get a tour of about 45 minutes and the y show you around and tell lively stories about the times the prison was used and which people were imprissoned there.

We did the English tour on Sunday at 2:15 pm, our guide was Bob, he was very entertaining and knowledgeable. The tour was very interesting and we did the self guided tour afterwards which was also interesting. We have teenaged boys so they found it very entertaining. The only downer was a family with a baby and young children who... More

We did this guided tour with our two kids. If you like cruel stories, visit this place :) The guide was very fun to listen to. He gave us a general overview of the history of the building, some events that have taken place (De Witt brothers) and of course some juicy details on the torturing that took place :)... More

Many old city gates acquired the function of prison. This one in the Hague is by far the most elaborate old prison in the Netherlands. Besides prisons for different classes, there are various torture instruments. With the information provided in the tour, this is a great experience.

While my friends went upstairs to the Prins Willem V museum, I opted for the prison. The visit was in Dutch but I had an audiophone to listen to. It is not often that on has a chance to see old prison cells and learn about punishment.

You have to plan to take the tour and try to do it in the language you understand. It's about an hour long and you can see about a dozen rooms in the prison, otherwise you can only see 3 or 4 rooms on your own. I took the Dutch version of the tour with an English audio guide to... More

It is interesting to see how the old generation perform execution for those who were convicted by crime. In this museum you will see the application of an eye for an eye concept. There will be guided tours in Dutch for every 15-30 minutes that will be taking you inside the prison and explain the history. English audio available.
