I loved visiting this museum, but you definitely need to go on a guided tour. I was lucky to have a private tour because I went there in the morning and there weren't any other visitors. The tourguide knew a lot about the objects in the museum and takes you to rooms you cannot visit on your own(like the former... More

I recently went to the Prison Museum in Den Hague and really enjoyed it. They have sections where you go on your own and they also offer a guided tour which takes you into other sections that aren't open to you unless you take the tour. You get to read a bit about the history of the Prison and its... More

Tours are available for both gallery and prison. Do both. The prison tour is interesting, but very short 30min and only in Dutch. Our guide did answer questions in English and the tour guide did help. The time in each room for viewing is very short, but the visit is well worth it.

Very interesting visit. The man who gave us the tour was very well informed and free to answer any questions. I would recommend to go here, great for tourists as well as for natives.

We bought combined tickets for the prison museum and the adjoining gallery. Our guided tour of the museum started at 15.45 and was due to last until 16.30. At the ticket counter, no mention was made of the closing time of the gallery, which we were supposed to visit after the guided tour of the museum; nor was the language... More

I get the feeling from the laughter and smiles that there were some good stories being given by the tour guide but not being a dutch speaker and it being the only tour available (all tours of the prison are guided), we felt a little left out. There is a small guide available (free) for other languages to describe what... More

If you have a good tour guide, this former Prison is a fantastic visit that makes you happy to live in the modern world. No detail is spared of how people were treated and tortured during their stay here. Possibly too much detail for younger kids, but teenagers will love it. Being locked up in a dark cold cell for... We joined an English language tour (held each Sunday at 14:15) which lasted around 50 minutes. The tour guide was knowledgeable and told the group about the history and uses of different parts of the prison, and the various punishment and torture methods that were used at the time. At the end of the tour we were able to visit... More

I took my parents to see this museum on a cold, wet November day. This proved to be an ideal way to see how prisoners must have felt in their dark, damp quarters while they awaited their trials. I really enjoyed the tour, but mainly because we found a couple fellow guests who could translate a bit for us. The... More

The guided tour lasted about 45minutes, at one point, we spent 12 minutes in one room, with the guide talking to our group (about 15 people). Iam not ssure what he was saying as he only spoke in Dutch even though he knew I was no a Dutch speaker. I wouldn't expect him to translate everything but at least give... More
