This is a block from The Mauritshuis so an easy choice on a very rainy day. I bought the combination ticket with the George V museum. The tour is offered in Dutch but with the... read more

If you like old things the prison was very interesting. They had a well planed visit showing what prison life was like in the old days. They had all of the old tools of the trade and showed how the used them on people. Glad I was not around during that time of life.

We went on this tour (allowing 30-45 minutes per Rick Steves) with the assurance that though conducted in Dutch, we could easily follow along with the audio-guide in English. The audio guide provided 1-2 minutes of commentary per room and seemed designed for the blind - it simply told you what was in the room. On the other hand, the... More

An old stockade/prison in the center of Den Haag, adjacent to a small art museum. Very convenient if you have some free time near the Parliament. Need to take the tour given in Dutch, but with English version audio version available. (Our live Dutch version ran much much longer than the recorded English version. ). Not all that much to... Please don't go here or to the museum adjacent. The staff was horrible and not helpful. They told us to come back in 30 min for the tour and when we did they told us it was full. They were not friendly when we complained and just blamed us for not purchasing the ticket early. We went again later and... More

This is a block from The Mauritshuis so an easy choice on a very rainy day. I bought the combination ticket with the George V museum. the museum is pretty interesting, though, they having tours in Dutch only whitch if frustrating. They can translate you during the tour to English but its not the same..

Definitely worth a visit if you're into culture like me! The price includes a guided tour. Mine was in Dutch, but I assume they do English speaking tours as well. From the outside you wouldn't expect that this small, but yet beautiful building, has such a cruel history. Although back in the days, people did their best to bring justice... More

I found this an excellent place to visit. If you want an English speaking tour, you can go at 2.15 pm. The tour guide had a really good sense of humour which made it so much more fun and interesting. It was incredible to learn about prison 600- 700 years ago. It has incredible torture rooms and you learn so... More

Pro tip - the tour is in Dutch; be sure to pick up a tour pamphlet in your chosen language and to let your tour guide know what language you speak. Anyways, you will get the highlights by using the pamphlet. You get to tour prison cells, torture chambers, and learn about crime & punishment in the Middle Ages. Awesome.... More
