Description: The Louwman Museum is home to the world's oldest private collection of...
The Louwman Museum is home to the world's oldest private collection of motor cars, compiled by two generations of the Louwman family. The museum dates back to 1934 and now comprises over two hundred and fifty antique and classic motor cars. Experts regard the collection as one of the most beautiful in the World. The museum exudes passion. Each car has its own story to tell, its own contribution to history. The motor car is a mirror of culture. The collection is housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague, the city where P.W. Louwman established his Dodge and Chrysler import company. The building, designed by American architect Michael Graves, blends in sympathetically with its historic surroundings. The landscape gardens, designed by Lodewijk Baljon, complement the architecture of the building.

Everyone who thinks he knows about cars or likes cars must be here. The display of beauty and elegance, the display of auto industry as art. Made with love and tylical Dutch scurpuliosity, it takes not only by its size (which is hige, make no mistake, you WILL need three hiurs!) but also by the way it tells its story.

The building itself made quite an impression before we even got inside and viewed the collection! It is set in large grounds with good car and bike parking. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. Visitors begin the self-guided tour on the second floor, and the exhibition is in chronological order starting with early horse-drawn carriages, progressing to steam and... More

This is a superb place to visit by bicycle, car or public transport. It is near the park where the Royal Palace is situated between The Hague and Wassenaar. The architecture is superb and state of the art with excellent accessibility for all. The collection is extensive and ranges from the dawn of motoring through to the modern day. The... More

I were very satisfied and happy to visit this museum that I came twice and brought my friends. Only thing I was pushed off was very poor service by the account. Been there twice and accountants serving with tickets were very rude and arrogant. They dont bother explaining or answering your questions. Also there is no such a waiting room... More

My friend recommended this museum to me as one of the "must sees" in The Hague. I was very impressed with the number of vehicles that have been collected under one roof. The exhibit progresses from the earliest motor vehicles to the present, and includes classic as well as fanciful designs. As an engineer, I found it very interesting to... More

Trailing behind two car buffs I did not expect to enjoy this museum, but was completely captivated by the displays, history and excellent information (in Dutch and English). We allowed 2 hours and it was not enough. Stop in the cafe (set atmospherically in a cobbled street) for a break half way round. Highly recommended.

Not just a car collection in a museum, but a journey through the ages with period cars. Most of them beautifully restored but original cars and very very rare ones as well. Fantastically presented and even the lunch area has an roginal setting. If you have an interest in cars it is a great way to spend a morning or... More

Amazing car museum, well worth the visit even if you are not interested in cars. Spectacular collection with many unique, beautifully preserved cars.

I have been to many different car museums around the world and this one is one of the best, on par with the Schlumpf Museum in Mulhouse and Harrah's in Reno. I had the privilege of watching the huge, purpose-built, three storey building under construction, as well as, the formal opening with the Queen of the Netherlands. There is a... More
