I was a student at Erasmus in 2013 when I had a chance to see Rotterdam in a different perspective. The walking tour gave me and my fellow colleagues at the University a chance to understand the City's current urban design, and how the IHS was instrumental in shaping and the city after the World War 2 bombing. In fact,... More

Modern friendly city, easy access, tourist friendly, well signposted, multiple shops and good reasonably priced restaurants. I felt very safe discovering city as solo female traveller. Interesting mixture of old and new dotted throughout city. I loved the random eclectic bits of art dotted throughout city. I recommend a visit.

At a saturday evening, my wife and me made a walking tour along the Noordereiland in Rotterdam. We had a quite walk with no disturbancies from the few other people we saw there. The night time view over the Nieuwe Maas towards de Boompjes and the Koningshaven with the monumental lever bridge is impressive and just a nice entertainment.

Rotterdam is a very interesting city to explore with lots of new interesting architecture and some older buildings which did survive WW2. Easy to walk around, just be careful of the bikes and trams. Plenty of shopping and restaurants downtown to select from. Glad to have time to explore. Rotterdam is more of a business city than a tourist city,... More

Rotterdam is a very walkable place. Be it through the Lijnbaan shopping street or by the harbourside (both the new and old harbour) or right through Museumpark, you will be awed by the architecture and atmosphere.

The city is approximately 20 mins from the Airport, Bus 33 takes you there for a roughly 4 euros and runs quite frequently. There are lots of shops and bars and has a great plaza just across the road from the station. Lots of tall buildings and beautiful designed hotels. The area is calm in the day and nightlife is... We visited Rotterdam for a day and would probably have benefitted from a 2 day stay. The city is quite spread out and to see all the attractions in a day is very difficult. We walked around 10 miles in the day and still missed some attractions. There is a wonderful blend of old and new buildings, and some of... More

Rotterdam is a very beautiful modern city. As it was destroyed during the war they had to rebuild a lot and new buildings are impressive. There are a lot of small restaurants everywhere. You can find a lot of atractions as well. And it is not too busy.

When you are told that a city is the 3rd largest port in the world it's easy to assume that it's not going to be very nice, on the contrary, Rotterdam is a lovely modern city with plenty of things to do and see. Wonderfully designed modern skyscrapers sit well on the banks of the bustling river and amongst the... More
