We liked to walk around the different exhibitions in the Dutch Photograph Museum in Rotterdam. The 'Darkroom' was interesting. They have 'white boards' signed with a small British or Dutch flag for English and Dutch language spoken explanation at many separate installations. You lay the board on the installation and then a video is screened on your white board and... More

I was really interested to visit this museum and a windy rainy afternoon in July (!) was the perfect opportunity. The main floor has a collection called Faces revealing changing approaches to photo portraits over recent decades. Every picture was well presented and fascinating to look at. Downstairs is the Dark Room, which is an excellent resource, using development trays... More

Amazing archive so only so much on display at any one time. The dark room in the basement is a good idea. Walk over Erasmus bridge to get there and take water taxi back.

This museum tells the history of Netherlands through photography and the history of photography itself. The photo exhibiton is spaced out over three floors. The basement is a "dark room" with interactive viewing stations with picture and sound. First and second floors is a regular exhibiton. At the second floor there is also a library of photograph books where one... More

When I planned my short weekend in Rotterdam I decided I needed to make a choice on museums and Fotomuseum was not in the top: I was totally wrong! I don’t know so much about photography and this is right place to learn something about in a simple way. The permanent collection explains you about the history of photography and... More

Enjoyable to visit, though not easy to find. In an area of urban renewal, which is fascinating by itself. To get there by metro, use Wilhelminakade station, which has platforms that go uphill and a stunning travellator in a tube. The museum is a large gallery with plenty of space to see the photos. In Spring 2015 there is a... More

whilst walking around the area of our hotel we came across this museum, it is simple but intersting and with its collection of popular and unknown art, can be quite entertaining for a few hours.

This is a modern and spacious museum with good facilities. The temporary exhibitions were interesting and well laid out. We particularly enjoyed the 'dark room' where the photography paper placed in the various developing trays tells a range of stories about the history and importance of photography.
