Description:

The Kunsthal Rotterdam is one of the leading cultural institutions in the Netherlands. With over twenty exhibitions a year, the Kunsthal offers a programme that is dynamic and always surprising. The Kunsthal is continuously transforming, and with its regularly changing exhibitions able to offer crossovers between various art disciplines. From modern masters and contemporary art to forgotten cultures, photography, fashion and design. The Kunsthal's exhibition programme gives it its national scope and international allure. In its iconic building designed by Rem Koolhaas, the Kunsthal stands for three core values: art, culture and society. The Kunsthal is not a museum, nor does it wish to be. Not having its own collection gives the Kunsthal absolute freedom, and making optimum use of that freedom is where its strength lies. With a small team, a wide range of exhibitions and activities are realised with a high turnover rate for a diverse audience. This is what makes the Kunsthal different from other institutions in the museum sector.

First time I visited this museum. I liked. It was the closing weekend of the Keith Haring exhibition which is thought provoking. Very good audio tour. Good restaurant as well. Lockers are provided, at a refundable Euro 0,50.

The Kunsthal museum has varying expositions, check their site when planning your trip. At this time, Keith Haring and USSR design are on, both worth while. The venue is very close to the Boymans museum (Museum Park), at walking distance from the centre. The cafe-restaurant at the location has moderate prices.

I went for the Keith Haring exposition and was positivly surprised, It was really nice. I also visited some orther expositions while i was there and it was all worth it. Unfortunaty the wheater wasnt really nice. The park begind the museum is lovely to walk. Easy to go because the tram stops allmost in front of the Kunsthal.

The Kunsthal rotates temporary exhibits throughout the year. There are 7 main galleries. Check the website regularly for the major exhibits. Walking or biking through the Boijmans museum park is a good way to reach the Kunsthal. Perfect for a Saturday afternoon, the cafe is nice and the Witte de Witte straat is close by for drinks and dinner afterwards.

Beautiful spaces inside and great landscape out...every side is concept design and as soon you come into the building you would enjoy the bar for is concrete simplicity and fashion appeal...must to be visited

Highly recommend the Keith Haring - the Political Line exhibition at the Kunsthal. Good overview of his work.

We really enjoyed our visit to the kunsthal. We saw the keith haring and Russia exhibitions and were really impressed. The exhibitions were well displayed and had good lighting. The food in the restaurant was tasty. Quite expensive but the portions were (too) huge. The staff was helpful and friendly.

We saw a great exhibition about the street artist Harling, wonderful. There was some renovation going on as well but still a fascinating couple of hours and the cafe is great for a beak with nice airy feel with views outside.

Friendly staff in the exhibition areas, who are keen to show off the amazing building as well as the exhibits. Temporary exhibits at time of visiting included one on the political work of Keith Haring and another one on aspects of Russian design. Both were very well done and worth seeing. Cafe has a good range of items and was... More

It's great as a gallery but really depends on the exhibitions that are currently on display. Suggest checking their website before visit. Last time I was there in 2011 there was a magnificent Sir Stanley Spencer exhibition. This year just wasn't so inspired by the choice of work. But that just personal taste I guess.
