We have been here a couple of times and the expositions were all interesting. The expositions change regularly and therefor we decide to buy a yearly admission.
Well worth a visit and on a sunny day the outside area of the cafe is nice too!

The Chuck Close exhibition was excellent and very well laid out. The cafe was also nice, although service was a little hit and miss. The shop is disappointing though.

De Kunsthal is a modern building with changing exhibitions. The staff is doing a great job selecting important (inter-)national artists. The big spaces can be adjusted to either small paintings or big installations. Check the site for actual information.

Never attended an exhibition there which didn't fill me with wonder!

The Kunsthal has a great variation of temporary exhibitions. They succeed in attracting famous exhibitions on tour, or do organize them by themselves. The stylish building adds to the experience.

While the museum building is not the most impressive, the exhibitions inside were great. I saw a photo documentary of Andy Warhol (the reason I went there, though not very impressive), an exhibition of Aad de Haas (excellent) and another contemporary painter (forgot the name, but excellent as well). The facilities where very good, unfortunately lacked English information

The building has not been very practically designed. The cloakroom & lockers section is cramped, not allowing for easy access and walking when it is even moderately busy. It is inconvenient that one can not access the cafe from the museum itself, but has to go outside first..
The "concrete" building materials do not make for much atmosphere.

We went to the Stanley Spencer Exhibition, Between Heaven and Earth, it was wonderful, so many great paintings loaned from many galleries and private collectors put together in a very informative way, placing him in context with other artists working at the same time.

With the collection of temporary exhibitions, the quality of what's on show can vary. However, our visit today was excellent, where every single exhibition was worth the entrance fee, which we got at a discount through a combined ticket to the euromast.
If you are in Rotterdam in mid 2011, don't miss the hipstamatic show, at the Kunsthal.
