By looking at other reviews, it seems I have been unlucky. However, I have to describe my experience, not someone else's. I went to Rotterdam today to visit this museum (and a few others) with the Museumkaart. Luckily, because I didn't have to waste money in addition of time. I entered the exhibition and the first problem arose: the building... More

I saw the Jean-Paul Gaultier exhibit here and both the exhibit and the building positively surprised me.

A modern, spacious art hall, we like to visit frequently. Just a few weeks ago we wrote a story for our 'Rotterdam City Blog' about a weird exhibition called ‘Your Light Is My Life’ by artist Krištof Kintera. We saw freaky, surprising and astonishing art pieces in a almost abstract atmosphere. We are great fans of the Kunsthal, located in... More

I visit Rotterdam every couple of years and always, always make time to visit the Kunsthal. There is always at least one, usually more than one, mind blowing show by artists who are unfamiliar to me from my antipodean background. I love the bird sculpture in the front garden, straight out of Edgar Allen Poe. The walk across from the... More

Some exciting cutting edge exhibitions when I went. First class staff and more adventurous than I expected. 6 halls of exhibitions.

OK, I'll admit it... we're not an 'art' family.... but both my children and I adored this gallery. It was different. interactive and wonderfully abstract. The café was equally great and the staff prepared 'off menu' meals for both children. We spent far more time here than I'd expected and the highlight was the Jukebox! We listened to Star Wars... The kunsthal has changing expositions, but the building itself is a must see already. For 2.50EUR you can have an audio tour that will walk you through the building and outside. This is the best audio tour I have ever had. Informative and funny at the same time! A benchmark for other museums. Only they should get an English version.... More

The Kunsthal does not have one permanent exhibit, but offers a series of various presentations through out the year. The Kunsthal has 6 separate display areas. We went to see the "DESIGNING 007 - 50 Years of Bond Style" (2 hours) followed by visiting "Two hundred Years of the Kingdom of the Netherlands" The Atlas Van Stolk photo exhibit (1-1/2... More

I'm a huge fan of avant-garde architecture and will defend the most unusual designs, but not this one. I don't mind that it looks like a factory, as does much of Koolhaas' work, but the sense of complete disorientation that this bizarre structure inflicts on the visitor is not conducive to an exhibition venue. Too much has been packed into... More
