As a local who visits this place regulary, I would like to advise visitors who are new to Rotterdam: the Kunsthal is a place which thrives on exhibitions. Before you visit, check their website on the current program and if there's something among it that interests you. This to prevent disappointments. The Kunsthal is not your typical place to see... The interactive part of this museum are fantastic! You can enjoy writing on the walls, drawing... really funny... The Auditorium contained several dozen of small models made by architecture students. Unfortunatly, no good indications about the way to reach the different hals...However, the most annoying thing was that Hal 3, Hal 4 and Hal 5 were closed….

By looking at other reviews, it seems I have been unlucky. However, I have to describe my experience, not someone else's. I went to Rotterdam today to visit this museum (and a few others) with the Museumkaart. Luckily, because I didn't have to waste money in addition of time. I entered the exhibition and the first problem arose: the building... More

I saw the Jean-Paul Gaultier exhibit here and both the exhibit and the building positively surprised me.

A modern, spacious art hall, we like to visit frequently. Just a few weeks ago we wrote a story for our 'Rotterdam City Blog' about a weird exhibition called ‘Your Light Is My Life’ by artist Krištof Kintera. We saw freaky, surprising and astonishing art pieces in a almost abstract atmosphere. We are great fans of the Kunsthal, located in... More

I visit Rotterdam every couple of years and always, always make time to visit the Kunsthal. There is always at least one, usually more than one, mind blowing show by artists who are unfamiliar to me from my antipodean background. I love the bird sculpture in the front garden, straight out of Edgar Allen Poe. The walk across from the... More

The space is big but not ovwewhelming. The exhibitions are nice for what I've seen so far. The staff is friendly and helpful. The exhibitions are interesting. There is a souvenir shop and a cafe. It's next to Museum Park so the surroundings are nice specially with good weather. I recommend it.

Some exciting cutting edge exhibitions when I went. First class staff and more adventurous than I expected. 6 halls of exhibitions.

OK, I'll admit it... we're not an 'art' family.... but both my children and I adored this gallery. It was different. interactive and wonderfully abstract. The café was equally great and the staff prepared 'off menu' meals for both children. We spent far more time here than I'd expected and the highlight was the Jukebox! We listened to Star Wars... The kunsthal has changing expositions, but the building itself is a must see already. For 2.50EUR you can have an audio tour that will walk you through the building and outside. This is the best audio tour I have ever had. Informative and funny at the same time! A benchmark for other museums. Only they should get an English version.... More
