Very informative! Really enjoyed visit. A must see for everybody visiting Oudewater. My husband received a certificate to declare that he is not a witch. I was not that fortunate as I have to return in 1 year and 1 day to be weighed again! There is a possibility that I might be a witch!!!

Small museum based in the weigh house in the centrum. Really enjoyable time looking for clues and finding out about witch hunts and how oudewater played it's part in history. Didn't take long to look around, but very enjoyable. You can get weighted in the scales to check for any witch-iness, but luckily we were all heavy enough to pass... More

It was a very educative experience and I've learned a lot about the way the 'witches' were treated back then. The museum is a little outdated and the staff should act a bit more professional, but overall it was a fun experience.

Lovely little town and we loved this museum. It is were they used to weigh good on some large wood scales from the 14th century, but was used to prove that people were a norma weight and not witches. We all had a go and the scales and got a certificate to prove that we are not witches for a... More

Visited the witch museum in Oudewater on an unplanned trip. Was interesting to learn about people being weighted to see if they were witches or not. After watching a film in English or Dutch upstairs in the original building dating back to 15th century go downstairs and jump on the scales. You are then issued with a certificate as proof... More

This little known museum in Oudewater, Zuid Holland is a lovely hangover from previous days of superstition. People suspected of being witches were weighed and if you weighed over a certain amount you were declared not a witch. Thank goodness for being heavy....I am not a witch.

The lady who bewitched us was fantastic. She entertained our two grandboys (13 and 15) with tales of terror and horror. She weighted them both and interrogated them. Alex the elder was told to come back in one year to be re-weighed. He didn't gain the required certification. We all learned a great deal and our "teacher" was just beyond... More

We were walking through the busy market place in Oudewater when we stumbled upon the Witches' Weighhouse. After watching a short video on witch-finding and looking at the exhibits on the upper floor we began the serious process of determining whether either of us were witches. First we were verbally examined about our likes, dislikes, professions and attitudes, then put... More

A few weeks ago, my wife and I made a stop in Oudewater to visit what sounded like a different and interesting museum. I really was. From the nice greeting from Jeanette, the very interesting videos and reading to the weighting that confirmed that my wife and I are not witches, we really enjoyed our time and also learned a... Fun museum to visit with kids about the history of witchhunting in de late middle ages. The museum is situated near the lovely Marketsquare next to the picturesque canal, in the centre of this lovely town. After getting yourself weighed on the huge scales you will receive a certificate stating your height and weight, proving that......
