The market on its normal Wednesday was awesome, and they were open again on Thursday, Christmas Eve day. I could see myself visiting the fish market every time if I lived nearby. We purchased some fresh cheese, olives, and even some small Christmas gifts (warm socks with grips on the soles for wearing around the house) for our daughters.

I'm glad I read about this market before I went. As others have mentioned, there is all kinds of great produce here. There are also stands that sell olives, nuts, hummus, pickled peppers and other Turkish delicacies. I bought three hunks of cheese and had them vacuum sealed for my trip back to the US. I tried (and liked) a... More

This is a wonderful old-fashioned weekly market. It takes place every saturday along one of the canals in the city centre right behind the townhall. It is beautiful and you can taste a lot of lovely varieties of bread, dutch cookies and of course fish. Many stores around too which are also open!

Leiden city center is a beautiful setting for the daily market. Walk alongside canals, cross bridges and buy Dutch cheese. Great fun.

It's an outdoor market in a great location. A little bit of everything, so everyone can enjoy it. This is my first time here on a Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

If you're after hustle and bustle and getting amongst the locals then the Saturday market is great. It was a bit of a trek for the kids as its so large, but they enjoyed the freebies on offer which kept them amused. We even wandered off track to explore more of Leidens streets as it has a lot more to... More

The leiden market is held every Wednesday and every Saturday. They sell fruit, vegetables, cheese, fish, poultry and wild meat. In good weather it is crowded with young, old, children of all ages. The fish sellers sell ready to eat fish too, as well as the ubiquitous Dutch herring. As you go through the stalls, you suddenly realize what we... More

This is a great time to rub elbows with the locals in a 900 year-old event, to try out eating raw fish, dipped in chopped onions, cheese, cheese, cheese and more! The fried squid was the best I've ever had (I bought fresh lemons just around the corner), fresh flowers, bread; a real feast! Stands that sold nothing but mushrooms... More

Fresh produce is available in this market, however the freshly squeezed fruit juices which include blood orange and strawberry make this market stand out by giving it a unique twist.
