This is a gorgeous church in the heart of Leiden, with magnificent chandeliers, organs and windows. We really enjoyed the information boards in one corner of the room detailing the church's connections to the pilgrims of the Mayflower. However, the information packet (laminated sheets looped together) was just too big, with too much information to wade through to find relevant... More

The church itself is massive inside. The displays about the pilgrim fathers was very interesting. Have been there twice.

The church is really nice. However the church is now being used for events and is no longer in service. Therefore the church is nearly empty. The walls are beautiful. The information very useful. Great historical value. Entrance fee cheap.

We were in Leiden for the 2015 Thanksgiving holiday. A very beautiful service is held annually on Thanksgiving at Pieterskerk and we feel very lucky to have attended. To me a tour of the church would be worth it on any day, but the impressive music and the great speakers (Mayor of Leiden, US Ambassador to The Netherlands, a Mayflower... More

Went to Leiden for a day trip from Brussels (3+ hours by train). This former church (now only used for concerts etc.) is not worth the 3 Euro. There is nothing really to see and it feels VERY strange that they use a church for rock concerts etc. It is basically empty inside.

A very short walk from Leiden Centraal Station is the majestic Pieterskerk. Entry is via the café and a small charge of 3 Euros is made to go inside. When I was there, there was Christmas music being piped into the church, adding the ambience of the building. Once in the Nave, you will be amazes at the space and... More

This large church is now used for special events. Went to the two conference of the Veer Stichting where they had set up a large stage. Excellent acoustics and the church was warm - not sure how they manage it with such high ceilings.

This large church has been ripped in the reformation. What remains is a vast space with interesting details of tombstones, pilgrim father memories and 2 historic organs. The cafe at the entrance is one of the best spots in the city to have a coffee or chocolate on a winters day.

The church is located in a very quiet and attractive part of Leiden. In the area near the church there are a lot of interesting buildings. The church is quite big and it has been paited a lot of time by Dutch and Flemish artists.

When walking around Leiden with a friend who was born there we did notice that the Pilgrim Fathers had landed there [did not know about that] before going on to America, and there is all the names of the people who did not make it to America they died in Leiden. Also look out for the narrowest house there, thankfully we... More
