An interesting former church, and now civic space, with links to the US Pilgrim Fathers (a connection I knew nothing about until my chance visit). There's a guide in English (and other languages) available from the attached cafe. Entrance is only 2Euro which isn't a lot, and does go towards maintaining the fabric and essential services for the building. Well... More

Every year, Webster University holds its graduation ceremony in this impressive church. It is well worth the visit for its historical value. It is used now for special events, but the Pilgrims were here! For that fact alone, it is interesting!

This is a wonderful church with a wonderful atmosphere. Of all the churches I visited in NL, this one seemed to have a wonderful presence. A sense of history is created here because of the plaque commemorating the Pilgrim fathers who traveled on the Mayflower were from this area. They never congregated in this church but lived around this area.... More

The Church is grand in its heigh ceilings and beautiful light filtering in. The place is used as a market of exhibition, and i quite like the idea that the place is still busy with activity, after all once upon a time they were the main meeting places. The day we were visiting there was a textile exhibition here, and... More

Like others, I was somewhat disappointed that this historic church is now used for secular, private events. When we visited, vendors were bringing in trees, tables, and the like for just that. But if commerce allows the building to be preserved, then maybe it is a worthwhile compromise. Overall, the interior is very austere and not particularly notable. The real... More

we visited this church just because it's the only scenic spots opened on King's day. It charges E2/person and entrance is through the cafe in the church. There's guideline you can borrow which give you detailed introduction on the church and details. But honest, it's just an ordinary church at all. So maybe not worthwhile for visiting if you have... The Pieterskerk was for me the peak of my one day visit to Leiden. First we did not find the entrance until we found out that you had to enter through the café! There you can get a ticket for 2 Euros from the waiter who explained without any impatience to every guest that you can also consume something at... More

Wonderful, historic space full of light made better by the man who came and talked to us about it. He said he sang and played and had been at the heart of the campaign to rescue the building for community use. Apart from the two organs he was very proud of the underfloor heating - never encountered that before in... More

The 2 euro fee to get in is well worth paying. The building was once a church but is now a venue which can be hired out, but they have kept all the charm and monuments etc which one would expect in the church. The cafe is great too; you get 1 euro discount having paid the 2 euro entry... More

For me it was the most contradictory and unusual visit at Leiden. On the one hand, the chirch is real center of the town with impressive history and view. And you feel touch of past when walking around. On the other, during my visit they were preparing for some event. And there were modern decorations and sounds of hammers mixed... More
