I really enjoyed Kinderdijk! It was a short bus ride from Rotterdam, perhaps about half an hour, maybe a bit longer. There is no entrance fee, but there is an entarnce fee to see the inside of the one of the windmills. We didn't go inside, but instead we chose to walk around since it was a nice day. It... More

We caught a boat from Rotterdam which took about an hour. It was a very wet & windy day, but still worth it. Got lots of great photos of all the windmills, & enjoyed the walk. Would have been nice to do the canal tour on a nice day. More

I have never seen so many old windmills in one place, very impressive and one can only imagine how many must have been in the Netherlands in the old days. Very impressive. Good for photo opportunity and you can also look inside in some of the mills. More

I was visiting Rotterdam and a business colleague suggested I go to Kinderdijk. Checking a website, it said take bus 154 from Zuid Plein. This is OUT OF DATE. Now get bus 90 (run by Arriva) from the bus station below Zuid Plein metro station. The bus goes once per hour (occasionally, twice) so check current timetable. Going through Dutch... More

Once you get there, we saw a few signs directing us to parking lots, but it was sort of confusing. We finally figured out you can just park on the street and this is what we did. There is not meter or charge for parking on the street. Just find a spot and park there. When we neared the windmills,... More

The mills are simply enchanting and free :) I think it was the best thing I've seen in the Netherlands. Save 2-3 hours to enjoy it. Best idea is probably to rent a bike and see them all at leisurely pace, have some picnick, etc. A showcase mill charges for entry. You can get to Kinderdijk by ferry or bus... More

If you are traveling in the Netherlands try to visit this site. Very old and interesting area. You pay 6 Euros for the mill tour and 4.50 Euros for the boat tour which lasts about 1/2 hour. When we were there 01May12 no guides were available so you toured the mill on your own. Be ready to climb some steep... More

This World heritage site is nice but....very crowded with bus tours, 17 windmills are spread out so there is lots of walking and if you are older this could pose a problem. There is a good movie on site but the directions and overall information at the "park" is poor. The movie ( in Dutch with English sub titles) is... More

Went to Kinderdijk in April and it was very cold and windy but an awesome experience. Pay for the canal or boat tour of the area, our guide was extremely informative. Pay for entry into a windmill Its very interesting to be able to go inside a windmill and view how they lived in the mill. Extraordinary! If there is... More
