We caught a boat from Rotterdam which took about an hour. It was a very wet & windy day, but still worth it. Got lots of great photos of all the windmills, & enjoyed the walk. Would have been nice to do the canal tour on a nice day. More

I have never seen so many old windmills in one place, very impressive and one can only imagine how many must have been in the Netherlands in the old days. Very impressive. Good for photo opportunity and you can also look inside in some of the mills. More

The mills are simply enchanting and free :) I think it was the best thing I've seen in the Netherlands. Save 2-3 hours to enjoy it. If you are traveling in the Netherlands try to visit this site. Very old and interesting area. You pay 6 Euros for the mill tour and 4.50 Euros for the boat tour which lasts about 1/2 hour. This World heritage site is nice but....very crowded with bus tours, 17 windmills are spread out so there is lots of walking and if you are older this could pose a problem.
