I visited St Janskerk on a day trip with a friend and was thoroughly impressed. The windows, described as the most significant in The Netherlands, certainly did not disappoint. The brochure given (in English) had the perfect amount of detail; it gave succinct descriptions for each window, plus overview information for the church. A temporary exhibit of paintings was an... Had a very nice weekend with friends in Gouda. Did a guided walk in center city and visited the Church. Beautifull old church with the world famous Gouden Glazen! Read about there history!

As others on here have said, this church is a UNESCO recognized site with fantastic original stained-glass windows. I have never seen so many originals in one place. This church also offers many informational displays about the history of the church, the window donors, and a dig that found some 15 bodies under the church floor. One of the skulls... More

The entrance to the church is not immediately obvious, but in wandering round looking for it, there's lovely little bridges, alleyways and quaint architecture, so plenty of reasons to have the camera handy. There's a small charge to go in, and this gets you a guide leaflet that is helpful. Don't miss the windows in the little building added on... More

Whenever you visit Gouda, don't miss out this church. Very nicely decorated with stained glass, sint Janskerk has been granted as part of UNESCO list of Dutch monument. Highly recommended

One of Gouda's highlights and the longest church in The Netherlands, it contains more than half of all 16th century stained glass existing today in this country.

Amazing church, but also, just a wonderful area to walk around. Canals not far away, little alleyways to explore and a gallery next door with a cool little Antoinnette cafe. I really enjoyed just sitting outside on the adjacent terrace with a coffee, spring sun peeking through and marveling at the construction of such cool historic buildings.

This is an absolutely breathtaking church. Take a walk around the entire church and you'll see each wall, door and window is unique. Also, there is a distinctly Dutch charm to the houses behind the church with bridges and tulips.

Worth a trip inside! The history of the church is very interesting. Beautiful stain glass windows! Make sure to walk around the outside of the church as well, the outside off the building is neat. The marble floor pieces are actually grave markings. The staff is very willing to answer questions and share some history!
