A nice peaceful place in the heart of the city. Everywhere we can find signs giving information about the monument.

Just go there and experience the atmosphere of a huge mediaeval abbey. Visit the churches and the museum that's part of the abbey.

A beautiful, peaceful place. The herb garden in the centre is lovely. Take the time if you are fit enough to climb Lange Jan. There is a small charge to climb Lange Jan.

It's like walking around in history. The abbey is an important part of the center. The protestants captured the city in 1574 & kicked out the priests. The abbey is a provincial government building now.and a part is the Zeeuws museum. The ABBEY is expensively furnished. One wing of the buildings is always kept in readyness for important visitors.

Massive and impressive construction, with some interesting organs - you can also walk into the monks' herb garden which is fragrant and peaceful. Its an impossively huge site as it used to also be a monestery, and houses the Zeeuse Museum out through the courtyard.

The historical Abbey of Middelburg (1100 AC) is located in the city centre and is used for relaxing, music concerts, museum and other city activities. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed with a historical background. Every year there are two music festivals located in the square of the Abbey namely Jazz Festival Middelburg and the Zeeland Nazomer Festival. There is... More

The museum was a bit of a disappointment. The tapestries depicting the naval action against the Spanish are excellent, but that's about it. The rest was low key and could almost be summed up as junk. Some of the things you would expect to see, like traditional Zeeland dress were not on display. The entry fee was rather expensive considering... More

I attended a conference in the abbey and it was a really beautiful place. The staff at the Roosevelt Study Centre in the abbey were also very friendly and the event went exceptionally well.

Very large, very old abbey of significance to the historical past of the town. Centuries-old cobblestone around the perimeter and inside the courtyard.
