Nice monument

A nice peaceful place in the heart of the city. Everywhere we can find signs giving information about the monument.

Just go there and experience the atmosphere of a huge mediaeval abbey. Visit the churches and the museum that's part of the abbey.

A beautiful, peaceful place. The herb garden in the centre is lovely. Take the time if you are fit enough to climb Lange Jan. There is a small charge to climb Lange Jan.

207 steps up and down. Unfortunately, you can only reach a closed platform. The highest top is closed. The view is worth the climb.

It's like walking around in history. The abbey is an important part of the center. The protestants captured the city in 1574 & kicked out the priests. The abbey is a provincial government building now.and a part is the Zeeuws museum. The ABBEY is expensively furnished. One wing of the buildings is always kept in readyness for important visitors.

Visited on my trip thru Holland. Very beautiful brickwork, lead glass windows, cobblestone roadways.

As others have mentioned, you only get to go about half-way up the tower and the windowed room at the top of the stairs is a disappointment... But the views are pretty good... For a 10 from 10 tower go to Dordrecht....

Massive and impressive construction, with some interesting organs - you can also walk into the monks' herb garden which is fragrant and peaceful. Its an impossively huge site as it used to also be a monestery, and houses the Zeeuse Museum out through the courtyard.
