The cinema has art deco charm showing art house movies - what's not to like? The screens are small and intimate and there is a feeling all the staff who work here share a genuine passion for cinema. My favourite movie venue in Utrecht.

Looking for alternative movies in Utrecht? Then don't look any further. The cinema is cosy with a great choice of recent not-so-hollywood movies. And the food here is good too. So don't forget to check out the cafe part of Louis Hartlooper.

The Louis Hartlooper Complex is located near the edge of the city center of Utrecht and therefore can be reached best by bike (preferably) or public transport. There are no good parking spots nearby unfortunately. It features several cafe's inside and also outside is a terrace, usually very busy during summers. Each movie is preceded by an introduction.

This "arthouse" cinema is great. The cafe food is averaga but the atmosphere is good. It is a good place to have a couple of drinks after the movie.

What a great idea to transform the old police station into a cinema! I really like the location on Ledig Erf. Always a great choice of movies! I really enjoy the short speech before the movie to explain a bit the story, comment on the director, ... And the classic+lunch is on of my favorite time of the month!

Tucked away from the bustle of the centre of Utrecht is the Louis Hartlooper Cinema and cafe. We have watched films here as well as just chilling out in the cafe outside. It gets busy when the sun comes out. Good selection of beers, tea and food like the Spring Haver cinema and cafe. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. There... More

I like this cinema a lot, because the movies are always high quality and the atmosphere is nice. In addition, a narrator ('explicateur') provides the audience with some background information (in Dutch) just before the start of the movie. The movies are run without a break. The small bar is nice and cosy. The large bar is nice too, but... More

One of my favourite hangout spots in Utrecht, the Louis Hartlooper Complex (LHC) is located at the Ledig Erf, a square surrounded by great cafes next to the canal (this place booms during the summer). The LHC is an excellent place to watch an arthouse film, eat something or even have a drink. If you are into your artistic films,... More

I like the area where the LHC is located. Good movies, nice food and on a good weather very good atmosphere on the terraces. It has an artistic feeling for some reason.
