No serious study leaves it out, and justly so: Rietveld's house is one of the icons of 20th century architecture. On walking distance, another block of this architect's works is were the visit begins and is illustrated; the famous house is in perfect original state.

Interesting house if you like art and are interested in seeing the only house ever built in Di Stijl style. Ticket gets you access to the museum too

You have to book in advance and find your way to the house in a suburb of Utrecht but it is well worth it. You get a thorough visit to the house and the museum staff will show how all the partitions work in this unique architectural gem. Very special. Like being inside a work of art.

this was very unique, never seen such a house in whole europe. It is situated in a normal street and when you are inside it is a beautifull architecture with walls that can be replaced.

A very important element in the development of modern architecture and more than worth the visit. The house is in excellent condition despite the age and challenges associated with building technology limitations of the time. Very well organized audio tour. Very nice walk to the house from the Centraal Museum (20 minutes).

It is incredible that this house was built in 1924. The tour is excellent and insightful. At 10 minutes before your booking time there is a short video which is helpful to watch. Then you are given an audio guide for the tour, which you can listen to at your own pace. There is also an actual guide who is... More

Nicely rebuilt into its original state. The audio tour is well done and guides you through the building. It is a pity that only the main house is accessible but not the model flats opposite the highway.

The outlook is just so-so. Maybe the history is interesting, but the place doesn't seem to be worth a UNESCO world heritage site.

Built in 1924, the Rietveld Schroeder House was revolutionary in its time. It is like a three-dimensional version of a Piet Mondriaan painting - all rectangles in primary colours and strong verticals and horizontals in black and white. The smart use of space is amazing - folding wall panels open up the upstairs rooms, plus amazing window design and ingenious... More

The creator of the famous "red and blue chair" was also the builder of this home that is on the Unesco World Heritage List. A limited number of tours are available. You may have to put up with a rather unfriendly receptionist, but the upbeat guide makes up for it.
