Gerrit Rietveld was born and raised in our neighbourhood, even his first workshop is around our corner. So we wanted to visit this little gem and most famous work of his Het Rietveld-Schröderhuis. In one word, spectacular! Our guide was amazing, she showed us all the little gimmicks he made and told us a lot, we could ask anything we... More

Fascinating work of architectural art that demonstrates the forward thinking of Mr. Rietveld and his generation. An inspiration to everyone interested in architecture and design.

This house was years and years ahead of its time. Built in the 1920s, it stands apart from the row houses of the surrounding neighbourhood. The video in the ticket area is worth watching as it goes into more depth that the audio tour. The audio tour is provided in many languages, however, its a shame that there is an... More

Remarkable house. It looks contemporary but it is old. Imagine how the perception was for the neighborhood at that time. It's like an UFO landed. Don't forget to visit the block of apartments 100m further downtoo.

I loved the tour through this house designed by Rietveld. It is truly amazing how he thought about everything and to see the details.

You need to book your visit. The tour guide was really great and demonstrated how some mechanics worked in the house.

book in advance- it is an easy trip from Amsterdam Centraal Station; take the train from AMS to Utrecht Centraal - less than 45 minutes; than the number 8 bus will take you to virtually a block from the RS house; a fifteen minute trip for 3.60 Euro. All the info is on the house website. Tip: if you are... More

Visiting the Rietveld Schroeder house is well worth the walk (through the lovely Wilhelmina Park and neighborhoods) or easy trip by city bus. Utrecht has many things to offer, but its canals, cobblestones, and cathedral can be found elsewhere in the Netherlands, too. But the Rietveld Schroeder House is extraordinary. There's an informative video before the tour. Be sure to... More

A must-see attraction and if you're up for it, the longish walk out from the centre of town (on a nice day!) is worth it. When the house was built, there was no highway adjacent, and the views from the top floor would have been amazing. The 14 euros to get in may seem steep, but it is now self-... More
