This castle with its interesting gardens is where Belle van Zuylen, famous 18th century writer (in French!) lived. Were interesting and in a beautiful position on the river, the ideal bicycle outing (though the is a bus going there as well). Good restuarants around.

I live pretty close to this castle and always include it in my running-routes. This castle was restored to host parties to the rich and famous in the 1950's It is rather lovely. Me and my wife often go for a stroll in the beautifull gardens surounding the castle. You have to pay a nominal fee to get in the... More

Cycled from Utrecht to the castle. Not open until 2pm and you had to precook tour of house, so we could only go to the gardens. Nice gardens and relaxing for a couple of hours.

Slot Zuylen is well preserved and maintained. Strolling through the many nicely decorated rooms and romantic venues, you feel how live has been in this era. The garden is worth a walk, even as the weather doen't permit it. We had the luck to watch a falconer.

We passed here on our way to the lakes (direction of Amsterdam) and though I always appreciate a nice castle, I think I would probably not have bothered as a single destination. I appreciated to read up on the history, and the castle looks very elegant from the outside, but other then a quick look inside and a nice walk... More

We didn't tour this castle as it had just closed but it had the traditional mote and bridge. The castle was more traditionally square in shape. We plan to return and see the inside which was occupied by the first woman feminist of the Netherlands. She wrote many letters which are now on display in resin for visitors to follow... More

Quite some ordeals where this castle had to go through during the past centuries, but nowadays it's a really beautiful museum-castle. During the guided tour through this magnificvent castle, history comes to life, lots of interesting figures lived in this castle, with, for me, the most important and well known one in the 18th century: Belle van Zuylen. She wrote... More
